Is there an idler pulley in a 2005 Honda civic LX. I was looking at pictures of engines and see no idler pulley. That's on the compressor, alternator belt. Bought a new alternator and still have a whining and was wondering if it could be the pulley

There is no idle pulley.

Does the whining stop if that belt is removed? Spin the alternator and compressor by hand, are they smooth?

I usually let the shop diagnose things.. I had let the car sit and idle with headlights and AC on high for 30 minutes 3 days in a row to get stop leak going in the ac compressor..thought maybe it discharged the battery and the alternator has to work hard to charge it back up make it whine.

Never use stop leak in anything, especially ac

No idler. Tension is adjusted at the alternator. Hopefully the stop leak didn’t wreck the compressor?
