Question P0420, p01457(?) Codes

Hello. 2001 Civic EX 263,000 miles, runs like a top, but these two codes come up on a scan. I've seen the antifouler trick for the p0420.Any thoughts?

P1457 is an evap code, do you live in the rust belt?

Re: P0420, p01457(?) Codes

P0420 - replace Cat Conv or use the anti-fouler on the O2 sensor (this has been successful for me)
P1457 - EVAP code - usual problem is leaking By-pass (Canister) Shut Valve (CVS) under the car - replace Valve and canister if screws rusted to it

Re: P0420, p01457(?) Codes

^^^^^^^^^

I can second NDNV's advice above. I had both of those codes somewhat recently and they've been cleared for a while now.

The P1457 code required replacement of the charcoal canister and CVS valve (along with the three screws). I used Intermotor parts and they work well. The job is pretty simple with a few videos on YT.

The P0420 code was solved most likely with the O2 sensor spacer/antifouler, but I also replaced the downpipe gasket and spring bolts just to be sure.
