Help! I can’t find timing marks....

I have a 01 civic dx and I’m doing a timing belt change and I can’t find the TDC arrow on the oil pump. Is there another mark somewhere else on the oil pump?

You sure it's not hiding behind the belt? Reference picture below.

The only timing marks are on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys. Refer to this https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...ne-timing.html

There is a timing mark on the oil pump as well, you can see in the pic above. The arrow should line up with the line on the crank sprocket. The post you linked is checking timing with the lower timing cover and crankshaft pulley still installed.

If it’s behind the belt, is that normal for the belt to be covering it? And if I get the top pulley to TDC wouldn’t that line up the lower oil pump pulley?

Been a while since I've done a timing belt on a 7th gen but I do kind of remember the arrow on the oil pump being behind the belt. Makes it a big more difficult to line up but still manageable.

If the camshaft sprocket marks are lined up to TDC then the line on the crank sprocket should match up with the arrow on the oil pump.

Ok so I found it.... it’s basically useless. Wtf am I supposed to with this. This has to be a joke the Honda engineers decided to play on dx owners.

It's the same on all D17 engines. It's a bit inconvenient but you have to make it work. You could try using a permanent marker to extend the arrow or something.
