Re: 4000rpm limiter

Vehicle is in limp mode to protect from potential damage. Could be a sensor issue.

Scan the code and let us know what it is.

Re: 4000rpm limiter

If you clear the code and the problem is still there, it'll come right back. Quick check, since your oil light is on... there is adequate oil in the engine, right?

edit: also, another "dummy check," the VTEC solenoid is plugged in, right?

Re: 4000rpm limiter

Yes the oil level is bang on
from what I can see I have plugged all sensors back in
there is a peice on passenger side of head that has a steel tube that goes behind head under intake
when I had that apart and blew a lot of carbon out of the housing. I thought it was some type of EGR

Re: 4000rpm limiter

If your car is throwing a 1259 code, it's VTEC related. I can tell you from experience that will most definitely kick your car into limp mode (and that a D17A2 will max out at about 80mph with a faulty VTEC system while in limp mode)

With that code, I'd be zeroing in on the VTEC solenoid and/or oil delivery. If you took apart the head, (e.g. to replace valve seals or something) possibly something in the rocker assembly

Ok I will have a look at Vtech solenoid
I can still get about 95mph out of it
155km/hr

Re: 4000rpm limiter

Did you forget to plug the oil pressure sensor back in? It's number 3 in the diagram below, rear of the engine. If I'm remembering correctly it has some sort of jumper that plugs into the engine harness somewhere on the passenger side rear of the head.
