Engine dies suddenly after heating up
Engine dies suddenly after heating up
HI folks, my son has a 2001 civic.
it starts and runs fine, but after 30=40 mins of driving it just dies. (Quite a problem in peak hour traffic)
After 20 mins of letting it cool it runs fine again.
He reckons the engine seems very hot when it stops, but the temp gauge is fine.
I changed the air filter which was filthy. No Change. Will probably change the fuel filter which I found is in the fuel tank.
Can anyone help please?
Thanks
Jim

Re: Engine dies suddenly after heating up
Guessing no CEL, without it, it's hard to say.
Maybe see if you can test the temperature sensor. I think theres a diy here or youtube, testing one with a multimeter, and hot pot of water.
I'd suggest renting a fuel pressure gauge and testing pressure, before replacing the pump, as these pumps rarely fail (that being said mine failed at 160,000km'ish).
