Here is what your valves may look like if your burning oil
So I took apart my 1.7 engine that I replaced and besides the usual varnish covering anything it looked pretty decent until I took off the head.
Hard to explain just how thick that layer of burnt on oil deposits are, about as thick as a dime covering the valves.
Was considering maybe doing a through cleaning and a ring job and have a spare engine, might also just make a man cave foot stool out of it.

i'd LOVE to see the back of the valves. i had one apart i bought from a little old lady. they were so caked they looked like golf ***** (although i think the guides and stem seals were the main issue)
