Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
I replaced the cam shaft piston sensor with a certified Honda part and it’s running better and not shutting off on me. However, when I get the car up to 3500 rpms it acts as if it’s stuck there. Any ideas on that?

Got a check engine light? Sounds like it's in limp mode and theoretically you'd have a check engine light. Scan the code, let us know what that code is

if you have a way to clear the code, clear it and see if it comes back

hondas are finnicky about non-OEM sensors (1000000th time said in the forums for people that actually tries to search before asking questions)
Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
P0335 is the code I’m getting “crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction”. Yesterday I tried getting it out of limp mode with a scanner and doing a learn procedure for the camshaft position sensor and the crankshaft position sensor and that did not work. I think either the crankshaft position sensor that the shop installed is faulty or something is wrong with the ECM

original equipment manufacturer (not the brand OEM). Basically telling you to go with a honda sensor (honda OEM brand is denso)
Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
This is the sensor we're talking about. Ask the shop what they used or go look at it, maybe it has a brand name. You can pick up a used sensor from a junkyard for much cheaper than buying new.
Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
Ask what brand sensor they use. If it’s not Denso/Honda, don’t waste your money. It’d be better to bring in your own genuine part for them to change. You won’t have the warranty, but then you’ll at least know it’s the correct sensor.
Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
I'm going to be honest; the ECU probably isn't bad. They're probably doing it because that's what you mentioned. It's not usually a point of failure, and when it is, it normally won't be pulling codes at all.

Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
tell them to do the sensors.
keep the ecu for later.
2300 is quite steep, but the crankshaft sensor is difficult to get to.

Re: 02 Civic Lx stalling out after camshaft sensor replacement
I’m pretty sure that crankshaft position sensor is the problem, I don’t believe the shop used the correct parts so I’m having the dealer save them and I plan to take it to the shop that screwed me over
