2003 ex civic alternator issue [solved]

2003 ex civic alternator issue [solved]
A little help please..what controls the voltage output on the alternators in these systems? My alternator was overcharging causing the vehicle to shut down after running for a bit. I replaced the alternator and it too on overcharging 16-17v. What would cause this?

Is it an aftermarket alternator? These cars don't cooperate with them.

The one I just got is. The one I replaced was the oem one. They are both doing the same thing

The difference is the oem one failed, the aftermarket one is just crap

The voltage regulator is part of the alternator.

Replaced alternator, this one is working fine
