Only engine light and oil light turn on in dash and nothing else

Hi so I was trying to install amp and subs in my 05, I was planning on using the stock stereo but using an adapter for the rca wires called a Scosche loc2sl. I had installed it in my last vehicle and it worked fine but when I installed it in the civic the way it was before it created some kinda of problem. I hooked all the wiring for the system up leaving the fuse out for last, when I put the fuse in all the sudden the alternator started making whining noise that you can barely hear, didn’t think much of it then I went to start the car and nothing. The only thing is does is the engine light and oil light and little green key in dash comes on and nothing else in dash at all as well as nothing works in the car now no tail light horn head lights yah nothing. I’m a tech and completely stumped at what could have happened and need help please. Yes I checked all the obvious things light fuses relays and bad conditions. Could I have hurt the ecm somehow?? Please help

That adapter only splices into the speaker wires? Where did you hook it up? Behind the radio or in the trunk?

Undo what you've done and see if you still have issues.

Yes I hooked it up to the speaker wires in the truck. I unhooked the power and ground on it as well and the amp power wire and no change

Re: Only engine light and oil light turn on in dash and nothing else

So now this morning I went out and checked it. I had the battery unhooked all night hoping that would help, got in it and turned the key and the dash lights up like it’s suppose to for a split then it goes off again. I’m my frustration I turning the key a hole bunch of times then all the sudden everything came back on, the fuel pump started running to prime the system and then it’s started but at soon as you turn anything electrical on all dash lights go out and about 5 to 10 seconds after that the car seems to lose power and shut off. I’m have no idea what it could be so any suggestions are appreciated.

Get a jump start. Any improvement?

Maybe the battery ran down while you were playing in the car all afternoon and now it needs recharged.

If no, maybe look for poor condition of battery cable connections, corrosion, dirt, loose, etc. (very common to find issues poor electrical contact between a battery cable and a post), that can support a small amount of electrical current to flow but fail completely when more current is needed.
