battery light keeps flashing

I own a 2k2 si-g veloz, and the battery light came on at idle. It stayed on until I revved the motor up and then it started to flash continously. After 20 min on the highway, it went off. Any thoughts?

My thoughts;
You are on the verge of an electrical shutdown. Check all connections and/or grounds. Ensure alternator belt isn't damaged. After that, might need to check charging system itself (ie alternator and/or battery). I'm leaning on your alternator dying though..
