Rep Power: 0 02 Civic DX-G Alternator Problems
My civic has had the alternator replaced 3 times in the last 8 months, and it is giving me trouble again. They have checked the entire electrical system and nothing comes up.
My only thought is that it is related to the AC compressor, which first caused problems last May, no cold air, very soon after the alternator was changed and the AC was fine. Since then 2 other alternators turned up dead, we also replaced the battery 1 time- brand new.
I am getting very frustrated, the battery light came on yesterday and now the car is losing power to the radio, lights on the dash are coming on--SRS, and the lheadlights are dim.
Someone please help??????

This car is totally stock, no mods at all. The alternators are from th erepair shop. They are rebuilt generic ones.

Rep Power: 0 i had a 1990 toyota truck replaced 3 generic alternators, finally got oem worked fine. 1997 civic, alt went out, replaced with oem. are you getting those alternators tested to make sure they are fine before you replace them?
last resort, take it to the dealership, my 97 civic cost me close to $400 installed, but at least it was fixed on the first attempt.
hope that helps, i don't know who is doing the troubleshooting for you, hopefully someone who knows what they are doing.

i had a similar problem with a sentra a few years ago. in the end i bought an oem alternator and it was fine after that.....so get an oem or a better quality rebuild. and make sure its installed properly, belt not too tight or loose etc. and check the belt tension after a week or two.
