Clunking and snapping coming from front end (2017 Civic LX)
Clunking and snapping coming from front end (2017 Civic LX)
Love this car.. got it about 7 months ago with 25k miles . It’s sitting at 34k now but has a slight delay when I shift into reverse and this noise is getting very annoying .... sometimes it can be very loud , kind of sounds like metal snapping/clunk. If it is the transmission it is under warranty because I bought it from a certified Honda dealer as a certified pre owned . I have an appointment Monday but I doubt anything will happen ... has anyone else had this problem or have any advice ?? I feel like a car with 34k miles should not sound like a aluminum can ): the trigger is when I first break, it will be the loudest . Then from there every time I accelerate, it will happen , and when I break again . It only happens once per cycle ... I just don’t get it

What did the dealership find when you took it to be checked out?
Did you demonstrate your concerns, take the advisor or mechanic for a quick ride so everyone knows exactly what noise you hear, feel, and what you did to recreate the the symptom?
Hondas powertrain warranty is 5 year/60,000 miles, see your owners information or dealership for more details. That's factory warranty, not hondacare
Check around the front subframe areas where the swaybar lives, A rock caught in the wrong place can sometimes make a helluva lot of noise whenever the swaybar moves.

Re: Clunking and snapping coming from front end (2017 Civic LX)
Old post but I will provide my experience with a clunking. Purchased a 2016 Civic Touring, Honda certified 75,000 miles and after a week started getting a clunk from the front suspension, sounding like a bad strut or control arm bushing going bad over any bump large or small. Nothing visible after jacking. Took it back to dealer and the mechanic found in their data base to look for rock(s) in or around the sway bay. he removed the sway bar and applied compressed air to the tunnel the sway bar runs through in the chassis and a small pebble came flying out, about the size of a small almond. The pebble was scraped up from metal contact. Reassembled and the clunking was gone and I'm now @ 80K, driving great.
