What kind halogens do you have?

Just found out that my left front headlight is out. I am thinking of upgrading to better performing halogen. What are you people out there using? Where did you buy? How much? Looking at possibly getting sylvania silverstar or cool blue......

I have the Eurolite bulbs in my car.
They all look pretty good and you can find them at any local store for around 30-40 dollars.........how long they last is the luck of the draw..........in my first set one burnt out after a 2 months, but I haven't had problems since then (10months)

What about going real HID....I sell a Kit...8300k....that is bulb specific....comes with an awesome waranty and goes for $750....

Or just go to Lordco and get the Hella 80/100 H4 bulbs..they cost $10 each and will put out more light than any eurolite or PIAA could ever imagine....relay these suckers and they will be very impressive'...I use this combo all the time.

The Hella 80/100 are best used with a relay set up, or you wont get the full potential of the bulb.

Ive got a few sets of H4 bulbs here....the Eurolite Plasma bulb and a Eurolite Xenon Fusion set...as well as some PIAA super white....I like the Hella the best for lighting....the PIAA suck ***....the Euorlite give Ok lighiting, but have a good "HID wannabe" type look.

The PIAA work great don't suck at all, don't know how you can say that. If you get it from Lordco they have a 1 yr warrenty on everything so if one breaks your covered. I paid around $100 at lordco with 40% discount. Those are the new PIAA I have!!

Ill say it again......the PIAA bulbs SUCK.....Ive tested them side by side with HELLA bulbs, Eurolite Bulbs, and real HID....the PIAA came in last by far...they were so bad even my GF asked me what kind of bulbs were in my car cause she couldnt see nothing compared to my HELLA's

The other problem with the PIAA's is the high cost....$100 for light bulbs

If you have any doubts....come over, I have PIAA Eurolit Xenon Eurolite Plasma, Cool Blues, and Hella bulbs......you can see for yourself what is the best.

what is your basis for saying which bulbs suck and which ones are great? the one that lasts the longest? the one that looks the whitest? the one that looks the brightest?

My basis is a side by side comarison of the bulbs.....I was looking for the amount of light output, the look, and pricing......now I will admit the PIAA bulbs looked good, but when tested with other bulbs of 1/4 the price and same marked wattage they fell behind the pack by a large margin. When you considder the Eurolite bulbs give you the same look, with better light output for $75 less, I know what the better deal is here. But for even less money you can have some high output Hella bulbs that will outshine the lot of them....Ive run all of these bulbs and I didnt mind the Eurolite bulbs...disliked the PIAA, and no matter what I had with the exception of HID (but thats a whole different price range) I couldnt wait to get the HELLAs back in...now I know they dont have the Fake I D (HID) look, but Im far past that, and look for superior lighting vs a look for my car.....if you have any doubts I have all the bulbs here, and you can see a side by side comparison if you like.

well I was reading my post, and it comes off as a bit snoby....I am the first to admit I dont know everything there is to know...but I do know what I like and dont like...and I guess everything is an opinion....some people like ford or Volkswagen or Honda, some like Pepsi some like coke....some like to see...some like to look good....but I do love my HID.

swifty, can you tell me exactly how to do this relay setup for the Hella bulbs? Also how long does the Hella bulbs and PIAA bulbs last? TIA
I am new to the Canada forum, and I came upon this thread thru Search...I hope you guys won't treat me any different as other fellow Canadians

Sorry we dont help Americans in the Canadian forum.....Just joking...I know it was a bad joke but its almost 1am and its been a long day

You can realay any bulb...doesnt have to be HELLA or PIAA ...works with anything.

OK so you get 2 or 4 relays....depending on much work you want to do.

5 pin relays have numbered pins

*pin #85 goes to ground
*pin #86 goes to the low beam wire from the factory harness (or high beam...one relay for low and one for High)
*Pin #87 goes to fused 12v+ from the battery
*pin #87a get insulated
*pin #30 goes to the bulb (high beam or low beam)

Should look like this

You do this one relay for high beam and one for low....and now you can either run only 2 relays, and run wires to the other side of the car or run 4 relays, 2 per side....and remember to upgrade the ground on the bulb as well

Good luck

Yeah I know the drawing sucks....but hey it's late...and Im from the old school...sometimes I do things by hand....but you get the idea

Ok, soo .. what is the purpose of relaying the bulbs? does it improve brightnesss, life of the bulb, or something else?

And where abouts is Lordco - I wouldn't mind picking up yet another set of hyper-white / Xenon Blue bulbs

Lordco is a Canadian Auto Parts store...similar to Pep boys or something along those lines

the reason for relaying the bulbs is simple...more voltage to the bulb means more output.....put it this way...when you turn on your switch the power goes from the battery to the fuse pannel. to the relays, to the switch then to the bulbs...causing a voltage drop
With the relays you use the factory system to trigger a relay that provides direct current from the battery to the bulbs.

just get a real hid kit. available at www.brightheatlights-hid.com
try and stay between 4300k-5500k. anything higher and it is way too blue and you actually lose light output, and you'll be drawing attention to yourself at night by saying please pull me over and give me a fix it ticket.
civics take h-4's you can get kits from 449 dollars on up, some have just lo-beam others have both.
i have the phillips 4300k lo-beam only and it is brighter than the newer bmw 3 series.
why would you want to go through 4 sets of bulbs in a year or burn up your factory wires?

Another reason for the extra relay is to avoid burning the stock wiring if you use high watt bulbs. Also without the relay you brand-new high watt cannot be as bright as it could because its requires more current and thus cause more voltage drop.
Btw swift, i have projector headlights, do you think i still need to build a relay wire system? Because I think the projector itself should have some sort of relay system in it, or does it?

to luvvegas777: you are comparing something that costs $30 to something that costs $450+. You know some ppl can't afford or not willing to put those money into just 2 "light-bulbs" (i know, its HID ) The HID system is 15 times the cost of the relay system plus new bulbs. You are kind of saying in a larger scale, why spending money on our slow civic to TRY to make it go faster when you can just buy Porsche 911(or other fast cars) for 15 times more. I know you are not necessarily saying that, but I am just putting it in comparison.

Sojsboy: are you using some kind of aftermarket headlight assembly ? because stock civic will only accept H4 as the headlight bulb
