The cops can take your license away for like a year!! 2 guys in Penticton got it for going 85k in a 50k zone, thats not racing!! Unless they were in Echos or something!! But they got their licenses yanked for a year!

Why dont cops bust drug dealers, pimps, rapists, or murderers. Its BS, i mean they are so wrried about people speeding no that the media has blown it out of proportion.

did you hear about the one by the airport? the one where the 1.6 el flipped? that guy got his liscense revoked for a year as well but he was going 120.

his friend however..who was going the speed limit..and who caught up to him after about 5 minutes...saw his friend in a ditch. pulled over to help his friend out. cops arrived. saw two cars. and suspended his license as well. now i think that's a little crazy.

now we're gonna end up with super unfriendly people who will no longer stop to help people who have been involved in an accident? for fear that as a second car at the scene of an accident it might be classified as street racing and get their license suspended for doing nothing wrong...how sad....

Yea, I read about that stuff in the paper this morning.
It's gotten to a point where you can't even pleed your case anymore. Automatic assumptions are being made by the authorities.

not liking this thing about cops coming down on "Racing". this is really getting out of hand.

and know this. if some dude, down the street, old fart, some mom or whoever says to the police you were going fast, probably speeding. just cause they said that and got your plate... your in a lot of trouble. for real

My boyfriend are friends with the two guys in Pent.
They weren't even racing but because they were speeding sorta side by side, cops assumed it's racing.

Okanagan race night were soo awesome, but now cops bust us down like we're serial killers or something.
But yeah, keep racing to a low profile until things settle down a bit and it's be up and running, better than ever! [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

They've added 14 new police officers to the Vernon RCMP office... now for anyone who doesnt know about Vernon... I think we probably had maybe 30 or 40 officers before... I don't really know the exact figures but basically 14 new officers is HUGE... there are cops *everywhere*... even the backroads that I used to barrel down at 120...

It isn't worth speeding around here anymore... just leave a few minutes early and use the cruise control whenever you're tempted to take off. When you see three police cruisers on the drive from home to church (roughly a 7 min drive)... that's when you know it isn't worth speeding now.

One thing that has me rather ticked off tho... is that a crappy *** small detachment like the Vernon RCMP is gettin 14 new cops... and yet our hospital beds are closing one by one and every day on the news you hear about another social program being killed off due to campbell's cuts in BC... and we solve the problem by getting more COPS? how the hell does that figure into anyone's math?
