Honda maintenance
do you guys always always go to Honda and have your cars regularly maintained? Is it possible if I go somewhere else such as Mr. Lube or places like that?

What do you mean? If you know what you need done them you tell them what needs to be done, if not just get them to check the brakes, exhaust or anything you think may have a problem.

what do you mean tune ups, what does it include? The point I am trying to make is that when I go to Honda service dept., they have a board saying a list of things to do at that particular KM, for example, A is fluid change and some other bs, B is everything in A plus some more bs, than C is B plus even more bs and so on. That said, if I go to a private shop and ask for regular maintenance, do I have to tell them if I want to do A or B or maybe C, or do they just know by my mileage? Thanks again guys.

List = bullshit
Do you happen to notice the outrageous price next to those letters?
I'm guessing a tune up is, check fluid levels, maybe check the spark plugs, check the brakes etc..

I don't know where you live in BC so I can't suggest any shops.
The only time I've ever got service done on my car at Honda was my free oil change after I bought my car. And for warrenty work, which it'll be going back in soon for more warrenty work.

the only good thing when taking it to Honda the record each visit.
so if u want to sell your car or if it gets written off u will get a whole lot more money. My g/f got her 91 civic written off couple of yrs back had over 220k on it and ICBC gave her $6700 for it stock because she got all the maintenance done at honda.

Thanks Reece, how is your claim coming along?
How much cheaper would it be if I have my car done somewhere else?
Also Calvin, can your friend do my car like he did yours?

i'm not sure how my claim is comming i'm waiting for a call from my adjuster. If u go else where might cost $20 less for a type 1 service but u mostly pay for the records they keep on your car. If u do it your self how does the insurance companys know that, hey I don't its a rip off but it will help u in the long run!! I had all my service done on my car the only prob is last one was in June cause I havn't drivne 6000 kms so I'm not sure how that would affect my claim.

My 2002 is @ 72,000km and take it into honda per the maintenance schedule they gave me when I bought my car. I'm holding on to my records tightly, i know they'll increase the value of the car when I sell it.
I will agree that some of the service is outrageously priced, BUT, honda has consistently been handling the stuff they *arent* required to handle, example my tire air caps got jacked and they replaced em without even my mentioning it. Other small stuff i've noticed along the way. I also don't mind them checking out my car regularily. I am so car stupid that I'd never notice if something was actually wrong or worn out, so i let them do it.
some day my car will be door ding free care of my parking habits, have a full record of all services done to it, a lifetime warranty on the body work that was done thanks to the drunk driver that smucked me, and it'll keep running smooth as silver. It'll be a good buy for whomever picks it up after me.
