2018 Civic Coupe Passenger seat lock position

Hi
I just updated from a 2002 Honda Civic EX coupe to a 2018 Honda Civic Ex-T coupe. In my old Honda the passenger seat would only lock completely forward or all the way back otherwise it would move back and forth. I always thought this was an annoying design flaw. Today was my first day loading my car and when I went to move up the passenger seat it didn't lock in place except for all the way back. I am really bummed because I need to be able to move the seat forward to put things behind it and don't want it to move while I am driving. Is my seat broken or does this model not lock in place all the way forward or adjust for leg room/space in the back? Thank you for any help.

If the seat back is leaning forward I believe the seat bottom will not lock in place. But if the seat back is upright or leaned back it should lock

Thank you for your reply. The seat back was upright, it just moved back and forth on the rails but wouldn't lock in place at the end towards the dash, only if I pushed it all the way to the end of the rails towards the back seat would it stay in place. I can't find anything online about it.

It sounds like you had the seat in the retracted mode to allow access to the rear seats. When you push the seat back upright you have to push the seat bottom back to where it was to lock in. After that the entire seat should slide forward and backward as normal.
