Arrow Accessory Power Socket - Repair Cost

I plugged in a air compressor my 2016 Honda Civic and my outlet quit working quickly. Checked fuses and they were ok. Anyway, I'm trying to get info on what the dealer wants to charge me for replacement. He says he has to remove the center console and is giving me a "break" on labor cos I'm a "good customer"...uh huh

Anyway, his quote is $299.30 for the work....I'm just trying to find out whether the dealer is overcharging me....or if that's about right. Thanks!

Re: Accessory Power Socket - Repair Cost

If I had to guess without looking anything up..

$150 diagnosis charge to figure out what's actually wrong, and they're prolly just gonna up and replace the part.
We'll ballpark $75 for the part.
Let's assume shop labor charge is $150 an hour, and the break they're giving you is 50% off labor cost. 1 hour of work, $75.

There's your $300 price tag right there

Re: Accessory Power Socket - Repair Cost

Thank you! The service consultant said it was a 3 hr job doing the whole thing...which I questioned to myself and they were only going to charge me 1 hr. My estimate isn't broken down, just says "REMOVE CENTER CONSOLE AND REPLACE FRONT ACCESSORY POWER SOCKET ( ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSE) ... so I guess I was lucky they didn't charge me for the diagnostics before I left because they had to order the part. Thanks for your help.
