Need Recommendation Brandon/Tampa to replace engine and turbo assembly 1.5L
Need Recommendation Brandon/Tampa to replace engine and turbo assembly 1.5L
Got an oil change using a coupon at an unknown shop, and months later now paying the consequences. Not sure what happened, but no power and black smoke coming from exhaust. Brandon Honda says I need both engine and turbo assembly for 2020 Honda Civic 1.5L. Car has front end damage from an accident that needs to get fixed, but the shop won't take the car until the engine is replaced, and the dealer wants too much. I live in Gibsonton, FL. Can anyone recommend an excellent mechanic who knows his stuff in the Brandon, FL or Tampa area that won't rake me over the coals?

You're going to have to call around. None of the regular users here are from the Florida area.
I can only assume the car wasn't running properly prior to the accident, because that doesn't exactly sound like spontaneous damage unless the cooling system got damaged and you continuing to run/drive it caused further damage. Either way, I'm curious as to why insurance wouldn't be covering this assuming it is related.

I thought I had signed up on a Honda Civic Forum for Florida. I dont even know where to begin to start calling around. I dont have a lot of time. I am moving out of state on 12/1/23 and need to get this car to a shop. No, the car was running fine before the accident. It had front end damage, but it was still driveable. I was having medical issues and put off getting the car to a shop because I had a lot of appointments. Then I had the issue of loss of power and black smoke from the exhaust. Took it to Brandon Honda, and they say there's no way this could be connected to the accident. Can you tell me how the cooling system could cause something to be wrong in the engine?

If the engine isn't being cooled, it overheats. Imagine AC but for your engine. If you drive long enough in 120 degree weather? You get the idea. Not a great example but you should get the gist of what I'm saying.
I empathize for your situation, but the deferral of getting the car looked at is what's likely done it in. You should be able to get the body work dealt with through insurance but the engine will have to be out of pocket.
