Here's something I do...

When the cabin is cool... I hit the RECIRCULATE BUTTON and I notice that the cabin gets even colder, since it's recirculating the cold air from inside the cabin, rather than taking hot air from the outside.

I don't know if my theory is right, but it does seem a lot colder to me... let me know if any of you try this.

L23Tan is right cuz if u dont turn on the circulation light, hot air will come in from outside

YEAAAAAA!!!! I'm right! woohoo! hehehe!

Oh, another thing... with the A/C on... damn, the car struggles! Well, not really struggles, but it's sooooooooo damn slow! hehehe! S'ok tho... I'd rather have a cold cabin. The one time I'm gonna choose luxury over speed! hehehe!

i could be your ac sir filter behind the glove box...it may be clogged up with dirt and crap...this will reduce the amount of air coming in

that's a proven fact... with AC on, you're car is turtling through the fast lanes. I prefer power over AC... I only use AC when my girl is in the car.

i never use the AC...even though my girl freaks out about the heat...i just roll the windows down, open thge sun roof and hit the highway...you would be amazed at the AC you get at 140km/h!!! Like a wind tunnel!

I run with my AC on constantly in the summer, I don't feel much of an impact on performance. I never use the air-recirculation thing though, I find the air cooler with it off.

a/c = more gas...
gas is expensive as it is.
i use a/c minimal as possible... just roll all the windows down.. and speed about 10 - 15kms over the limit.

I really don't notice a difference on my fuel usage either with AC on vs. off. Still get about 550km on 40-42 L of regular gas.

Ya if it's not crazy hot out and I'm just driving around town, not much over 60 then windows down is nice, but on the highway or on super hot days AC is a must.

That's pretty much the main reason I got rid of my '92 Accord. Well, it had other problems too (always vibrations no matter how many balances/alignments/new tires I got), but the AC situation sure made the summer brutal. At least it had the moonroof though (yay EX-R) which was a lot more enjoyable than having the windows down at highway speeds.

I'm back! Its true, the cooling system in the Civic (well the LX) is terrible, absolutely horrible. Air can barely make it through the back so the front is cold but the back is warm. The air condition in my cousin's car (02 LX Sport) is not freezing cold, just "cold". Mind you this is after 30 minutes with full operating temperature, max fan with re-circulating mode. Maybe as many suggested, she should check it up, compared to the CR-V, the Civic's air condition is like comparing ice cold water with warm water. The A/C really kills power, however with Ultra 94 it keeps up more than regular gas. The A/C puts a load onto the engine (anything connects to the engine = power loss [i.e power steering]. I believe the heater is less power robbing than the A/C, the defroster is part of the A/C by the way. For those who roll their windows down on the freeway, infact a constant speed of 60mph+ are actually mistaken. When the windows are down, this cause drag, and the car has been aerodynamically designed with the windows up, so when your travelling at 100KM, it causes a lot of drag / load onto the engine and thus more gas is consumed. That is why, proven, that it is more fuel efficient to use your A/C than with the windows down at high speeds. With A/C on, the V feels like a total slug.
