Got My Radar Detector!
I got my new radar detector yesterday! I'm really excited, it's a Cobra ESD 9000 model. Yes, they are illegal in Canada, but only if you get caught. I paid $150 for it, and it should save me a lot more in speeding tickets!

Yup I had a radar detector In Montreal last year
gauranteed it saved me from a ticket or two..............until a cop snuck behind me with his lights off and caught me doing about 170............that white light under their sirens shines right through any tint and I was caught hard with it.
600 dollar fine for having it
250 dollar speeding ticket
200 dollar radar detector---confiscated
1 period sitting on the bench for being late for my hockey game.
It'll save you from speed traps but be damn careful anywhere else with it.......that grand loss didn't feel too good the next day.
good luck

Yeah I'm kind of worried about the cops finding it, which is why I'm always paranoid about having it on the dash. If you're looking for one, the best place to look is on ebay.
ALL ABOUT ENVELOPES
My friend once told me that he kept a sealable envelope (padded- the ones with bubble wrap on the interior) with a stamp on it in case he ever got pulled over.
Apparently, popo got no jurisdictionageing (LOL) on sealed envelopes without a warrant or something- some issue about not having the right to open it.
THIS BE TRUE?!

the only thing makes trouble for radar detectors is the newer low powered digital radar detectors. low power = harder to detect. they also use Ka band detection which has a huge amount of bandwidth which the radar dectector has to constantly scan to find a radar signal. if you are looking for a detector just make sure it has a top notch Ka band detection.

I'm pretty sure cops can't open mail without a warrant. If I open mail not address to me or take mail not address to me its a federal offense. So putting the radar detector in the envelope might be a good idea.
