Argh, I need to practice driving stick!
I was driving my uncles car home today... boy I need to practice! Last last week I did fairly good taking off but today was so bad, stalled once, it jerked alot... and got honked twice. I hate it especially when people are right on your *** waiting for the light, I was rolling backkkk and than *BEEEEEP*. At the end end I manage to do okay... how can I improve my launching skills. I seem to let go of the clutch the fast hmm...
find out the point of engagement on the clutch. let the clutch out without reving the car and when you see the RPMs starting to drop or feel the engine starting to stall ... that is where the engagement point is.
so when you drive, let the clutch out and just before that point start to rev the car and you'll get smooth starts

if your comfortable w/ looking at the tach...
rev at 1.5 rpm... slowly release the clutch, and slowly give it more gas as you release the clutch....
i taught swtaznillusion (TODAY)... she never stalled... she impressed me...
good luck...
basically, it just takes practice...

I guess I was being nervous seeing a car right behind, less than 2 ft away which is illegal btw, and than when I was rolling back I was like oh ****.
So what do I do now?
Rev to 3000ish and than slowly release the clutch?
Doing the one motion thingy is hard, especially when the clutch is so stiff.

took me a whole month to get used to an automatic... my first 2 cars were standards (in the philippines 95% of the cars on the road are standard
) ... whenever i slow down to a stop, i kept grabbing the AT shift **** hehe... and letting go of the gas while letting the AT shift... go AT woot woot! hehe...
practive MT by finding a nice hill and stopping, going, stopping and going... when i got my license (i was 14 lol!), it was a bitch parallel parking on a steep incline!

ignore the tach and just play footsie with the pedals... you'll get used to it! and oh, tip for you, wear thin-soled shoes so you can feel the pedals (don't wear them boots or nike shox hehe)
Sorry I don't have thin sole shoes, I was wearing boots, and I have a pair of shox (why did I buy em
)
Whats the difference feeling the pedals?
I like the tach, whats the difference not paying attention to it.

well it's nice to get a feel for the pedals, so you know exactly how far your letting go of the clutch and how hard you're stepping on the gas...
well it's better to keep your eyes on the road, than on the tach right? try not to depend on the tach too much since different cars have different biting points (i dunno how you call it).. like in my family's maxima, you barely have to rev up to get started
