DESPERATE question before i buy 18's

this is the problem!!!!

my car is LOW... very low, the back is tucked about 1/2 an inch from the top of the shitty firestone tires.

now im going to slap 18's on my car very soon

and well i was told to go with a 225/35 R18
which will likely keep the speedo and all the good **** in tact!!

now my question is..... is 225 too much before i start rubbing????
im getting scared now, maybe i have to raise my car a bit.

but im going to drive it tucked!!! and will installing cambers in the back... will it inprove it a bit straightening it out????

thanks alot guys/gals!

225 might be tight. You may get some rubbing. but I dont know for sure.

Mine are only 215/40/18 and I dont have any problems at all.

I think I saw a thread in the tire forum that posts unusual tire sizes.

You should check it out, maybe someone there has that set-up.

Actually thats for the recent gen... wheel store forget that fact....

you'll need 205/40R/18.... you dont need 225... unless you want wider wheels.. 215... the most.....

in my opinion... i would go 215.. and thats all.... and I really reccomend CAMBER kit... 18' tires arent cheap... so get those cambers fixed.... and no you shouldnt rub...

if you want you can run 35 series tires..., but your speedometer will be OFF but not by much....

so to sum it up... 215/35/18 or for a perfect speedometer reading 215/40/18!!!!!

and GET cambers for FRONT AND REAR>>!!!!!!!!! Tires arent cheap.....

if u afraid then get something like 20 sidewall or 25 sidewall (big bucks) if u dont want to rub

but why go for 18s? it makes your car so slow and so expensive to buy tires and rims

also burn more gas cuz it is so heavy

because 20 - 25 sidewll... will mess up his speedometer... and PLUS you have to think about ROAD conditions... if its for track or show... go lower pro... but for street... 35 - 40

oh and bigger wheels doesnt mean slower....

Physics LEASON!!!!

Smaller lighter wheels = faster ACCEL!!
Bigger heavier wheels = higher MAX speed!!

hope i shed some light on things !!

Sometimes people will sacrifice performace for look ...

I don't mind accelerating slower with some nice wheels on hehe

I don't see what so nice about 18's, infact I see more with 18's than good ones. LoL don't go for performance tires too because you will burn them so quick if your camber is offset.

I don't know ...
I found nitehawk's ride the most attractive when I saw his 18" rolling ...

It's just my perspective ...
I always like to see the patterns different wheels form when rolling ...

18's arent that bad..

I mean, when you look at 17's on a 5th or 6th gen civic, they look absolutely HUGE. Our cars have gotten so tall, 17's don't look that big anymore.

225's should be okay though, if 35-series profile. I doubt it'll rub since we have pretty big wheel wells.

If cost is no object, and you don't mind a little bit slower acceleration, I'd say go for it.

Otherwise, 17's are more logical choice...

You'll definately need turbo to compensate the loss of acceleration.

turbo our car? REDVIC started a threada before about "Don't turbocharge your 7th gen" something like that (do a search)
because he went thru a lot of troubles getting them installed and it is not cost efficent according from REDVIC. (u are digging a deep hole and once u fall into the hole, very hard to come out)

but if you got the cash and want to be the 2nd Civc in Can East with turbo then go for it.

K20 swap is good but u need subframe from RSX to complete teh swap and ppl wants big money for the swap
i heard they are coming out engine mounts for B series motors for 7th gen
B series motors are not as expensive as the K series cuz the supply is much higher

i dont think i would do a swap in my civic, i just sell the car and buy another car instead.

acceleration?!? People, have you forgotten that you're driving a civic...... A CIVIC!!! most with stock engines. even the 127hp v-tec coupes with a manual trannie are slow as hell.

when you drive a civic who give two f*cks about acceleration! the car isn't fast to begin with, as a matter of fact it's slow as a snail compared to most cars out there. sure, there are a few older civics out there that are built for speed but those a far and between.

chigga, get them 18"s, f*ck get 19"s if you can afford them. make all them other civic owners green with envy. 19"s 215/35/19 YEAH!
