get an AEM SRI from tornactive.com ... holy crap the red looks nice
buuuuut gotta love the K&N FIPK
quieter than AEM and still gives the VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! gotta love my mid-highend ... i was VROOOOOMING quite a lot since i kept getting stuck in the snow!

But you must remember that CAI - risk getting hydrolock due to the placement of the open filter (usually behind the front bumper or beside the wheelwell)

Boohahaha is right
CAI = Low end....
SRI = Hight end....
and since honda cars are made with high end in mind, I like to build on that... and plus after 1st gear all your using is high end.....
unless your auto and want that torque for the low end.... I have a AUTO but i have a SRI cause like i said after 1 and second gear your all on high end!

are you sure....I was always under the impression that SRI is for low end and CAI is for high end.
With the SRI the air has a small distance to travel and thus creating more power at the low end.
With a CAI the air takes longer to get to the engine but it is colder, this will yeild bigger gain at the high end......am I wrong??

No it wont effect warrenty!!
and
SRI ....is high end due to the TEMP. of the air going into the engine..... yes it does travel shorter.... but its also in the engine BAY... and since the hottest part of the car is the EXHAUST manifold.... the heat stays there.... and since HOTTER AIR has less density it combust less!! but the faster you go the more air is exchanged in the bay with cooler air... mainking it more effective!!!!
CAI.... has cold air coming in meaning MORE TORQUE.... COLDER AIR has MORE DENSITY.... its like a really really week Nitrous .... since nitrous just freezes the air that mixes with the gas for more combustion!! (but thats another topic).... well in retrospec... colder air = more dense = slight more combustion
Hope Boohahaha and I was some help.... if you need more info fell free to PM me or BOOOhahaha

what about my SRI with plastic tubing + heatshield (ie Gen2FIPK)? since it sucks in relatively cooler air than a conventional SRI, will it be somewhat in between a CAI and SRI?
I got the Injen RD CAI and I feel it more on the low-mid end. And yes, it is very vulnerable to hydro-lock... just make sure you invest in a by-pass valve! ... And that, is your MIDAS, tip of the week!
i heard the by-pass valve blows and is pointless and is pointless to even have a CAI if you get a by-pass valve. A question i have is with the SRI, the sri is only really more effective if you have a ram air hood like the kaminari hood right? I mean,since the oem civic hood has no holes to allow air, would the sri just be sucking in more and more hot air creating less power?

SYSTIC, you may want to elaborate when you say that 'the bypass valve blows'. You would NEVER and let me repeat...NEVER, use the bypass valve on a SRI, as for the CAI, it will save your A$$ every time!
excuse me, i didn't mean the by-pass valve blows as in blows air our... t blows as in equals it is useless. I'm still a little edgey on getting the CAI since i have every intention of getting the Kaminari Ram air hood.... what do you guys think? get the CAI or go ahead with the SRI since i'm gonna get the hood...

air is still able to move around the engine bay (specially at higher speeds) ... ever look at it from the top... you can see all the way down.... the faster you go the more air is moved around... yes.. its still hot... but not to the point that your sucking in pure heat....
plus the ram air hood by Kaminari has the scoops at the center.... your SRI wouldnt even match it... Ram Air hoods purpose is to COOL the Intake and Exhaust MANIFOLD <--( where all the heat is coming from!!!) with the ram hood... you can cool that area and create less heat!!!
