cost 4 install

alright so right now my car is bone stock performance wise cause i'm getting a swap next year hopefully. I do however want a new muffler cause i hate the little dinky ish coloured pipe sticking out back. i was considering getting a muffler for it but i was curious how much it'll cost me to install it. chances are the inlet and my stock exhaust will be of different diameters so that will factor into the cost i guess. if its gunna be over 50 bucks i'll just hold off a bit longer cuase money is tight. Also, any other suggestions for making it look better. Tips......but will you still be able to see a ish coloured muff? What about cutting that ish off closer to the muffler so that it doesn't stick out as much? or could that cause problems with hot fumes on my car?

I just got a muffler installed on my car today and it cost me $200.. They had to bend another pipe and attach to my stock piping and then weld that pipe to this new muffler.. It took them about an hour to do this and they charged me $200.. If I were you I would save up some money and get a straight cat back exhaust done, I paid $80 for my muffler and $200 to get it installed and it doesn't improve my performance and the sound is a little louder and deeper and ofcourse the look is amazing but other than that..i dunno if I would get this done again.

It should cost more then $50 dollars to install a universal muffler...
I know shops here in my area that only charge $50 bux to weld it on. Call Muffler Man, Midas, and shops like that and ask how much they charge.

reason i ask is cause i saw sureal's thread and was thinking WTF. i called 4 places when i was thinking about a full custom exhaust. 2 places were cheapies, it think muffler man, and tobence muffler....they quoted me 250 from the cat back not inc the muffler. the third place was a nicer setup with stainless steal piping and a stainless muffler and custom tip and he qouted me 700. the last spot was a really good but really expensive place and they qouted me 1600. WTF really. i cant understand why it would cost so much. there is only a 1/4 or maybe 1/2 inch differnce in inlet-to-exhaust piping diameter. How hard could it be to flange that ish out or what ever it is called that they do. I saw them do it on a tech show in 2 min. and welding is a 10 min job. my bud's got a welder....i'll do it if it'll cost that much. i dunno i'll call.....thanks
