**WARNING** Do not turbocharge a 7th gen!

I have ran into SOOOO Many problems turbo charging my car it's not even funny! The mechanics are GREAT don't get me wrong, they are bending over backwards for me and my car... It's just one thing after another! First of ther is alot of custom work... ALOT! First of I bought a turbo... and it was to big... then I got another turbo of a stang and it burns oil like a BITCH! So it needs to be rebuilt ($1300). I NEED to do a return fuel system in order to run more than 8psi (thats another $1400)... My intercooler hasn't come in yet from cali by fedex overnight? Place the order LAST WEEK! so won't have that for the show... And thats just the begining! But can't wait t'ill it's all over with! PSSSSSTTT

What if you wanted a turbo to push just 4-5psi rather than 8psi or more. Would you be incountering these problems too?

hmm you didn't know there would be so many problems? all the americans had a ton of problems turbo'ing their car, thats why the stuck under 8 psi and most at 5 psi,
thats why when i saw your post one time about going up to 15-20 psi, i was like , but anyways good luck

You wouldn't be encountering half these problems actually, you could keep the stock fuel system, Wouldn't need a fuel management really, wouldn't need to uprade the turbo... You would be puching around 170Hp-175Hp at the wheels... But I want to go faster

You can still run 15-20 psi... just there is alot more hidden cost. Once the fuel system is done and the turbo is rebuilt it's pretty well smooth sailing from there. I that is holding me back from pushing 18psi is the internals (pistons: $700 connecting rods:$1300 Block guard:$150 sleeved block Maybe: $1800) And I need a new intake manifold (Ours cracks at 10psi...) Plus I have water injection and a liquid to air intercooler so that will help alot...

Holy s**t! Thats good enough for me!!! Actually, that is what I want. Did you ever make a thread about installing your turbo and what is needed? I can't recall.
Thanks REDVIC!

That bill won't pass. I believe SEMA has filed a letter to the Ontario Ministry of Transportation about this. There are too many modified cars out there for them to do anything about it. No to mention the number of shops that they are forcing out of business.

it's because our civic is still so new and not too many performance parts are out yet. just be patient if u want a turbo kit made by a big name performance brand. up to this point, only custom parts are going to work for turbocharge our civic

hey redvic, why not add a couple of extra injectors & pump instead off re-do the entire fuel system??, its gotta be cheaper??....but yeah, the return-less system is a pain in the a$$....i will be happy with a 5psi charger (but for how long??)....

Well that's what I already did... I have 2 320cc RJ injectors but that will only do you for 8 psi... After that you have to upgrade the flow... Fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, Fuel rail... yeah so... Alot of hidden cost if you want to go BIG!

Wow redvic, this is a pretty pricey and frustrating project you've gotten yourself into. I can't wait to see the final product. Just keep throwing money at the problems as they come up. You can solve anything with enough $$$$. Hope your tribulations are finished.. props.

I know I will be pushing 240 WHP by the end of the month... All you need is the proper equitment and proper tuning... Why did you talk to Stephan? There both really good mechanics!

I just went over to see the car and asked him how he solved the fuel system problem? He took a deep breath and started explaining. A lot I understood already and a lot I didn't. Talked about a swap and what he thought...just shooting the zhit. He said mentioned to get over 8psi your gonna have to go to a return fuel system and 10psi the intake's gonna blow..

What I don't get is we've seen Celica's with turbos-are they having the same problems? I would imagine so...Mustangs have been using returnless fuel systems since 1999 and the problem is solved although they use a mass air system which makes a difference..

I'm assuming you just need the right tune..I'm surprised the stock map from Honda wasn't looked at first. Who knows how conservative it is

At 8psi the fuel starts to run lean... And at 10-11psi the intake manifold blows because ours is made out of platics. I found a company that makes custom intake manifold for our cars, so that solves one of my various problems...
