Pet Peeve...
I noticed this while driving to the grocery store this morning... why is it that almost all car manufacturers will spend so much money into designing a car to what they think is acceptable or good looking, mass produce it, then in the end just slap on an ugly *** muffler with a nasty exhaust tip!????? Talk about ruining the look of a car!!!
The only cars I can think of that have nice exhaust tips are some of the higher end cars like Porsche, Ferrari, Mercedes, etc...
One company that did it right from stock was Hyundai with the new Tiburon.
Anways... just an observation I thought I'd share with you guys.

car parts are getting suckier from stock.. it's planned so you'd have to go back and get it fixed or replaced or change it . it's a conspiracy!

They do it to reduce cost. Same reason why they put shitty rims on for cheaper cars. The nice exhaust tip that you are talking about would probably cost about $50 to the car maker.
Now, we both know that you and I would pay that in a heart beat for a nice exhaust tip. However, 99% of the public doesn't agree. In fact, they don't really notice it. And that is definitely NOT the decision maker when it comes down to choosing a car.
But things don't stop there. Unpainted mirrors, door handles, single bulb brake light, lack of door ajar indicator, Firestone tires, etc etc... they all save Honda money. In return, they increase profit and lower the cost to make Civics more competitive in the econo market.
So by cutting some corners, say Honda saves about $1000 per car. $1000 is HUGE on a Civic, percentage wise. It's a deicision maker when you are buying the car. $1000 on a Ferrari? WTF is that? A tune-up costs more. $1000 is NOTHING for a Ferrari buyer. Hence, the nice exhaust tips, among other little goodies.
You get what you pay for. You buy a cheap jacket, and you'll notice single seam stitching, and cheap matterials. Even cheap buttons and zippers. Cars are the same way.
As for Hyundais? They are 2nd best. 2nd best cars always have to try harder. They have to offer more value, for same money. Prime example? $24,000 Nissan Sentra SE-R SpecV, that does and has everything more and better than the Hodna Civic SiR. Why? Because they have to. They are #2.
