LONDON: rear sway bar

hi guys,

i suggested in the main london thread that we break the conversation into smaller threads so here is the first attempt (i think).

i really want to get the rsx rear sway bar but i'm worried that if i get it, the install (on a 2001 lx coupe) might be too difficult. are there shops in town that specialize in this sort of thing?

lon a related topic, do any of you have the progress or suspension technique rear sway bar installed? are they easier installs?

thanks!

gasboy

Hey gasboy,

I know APRBoy and myself are going to get the RSX rear anti-sway bar this spring. We'll probably get it from the Acura dealership for around $130 plus taxes.
We're waiting till the spring-time - how really wants to work on their car in this weather?!?

You'll need some holes drilled to attach the bar. Follow this link, DIY Progress Sway Bar on LX (thanks to Grey). Does look too hard to do. We could all meet up in the spring-time and help you out. Yes/no?

I think we should wait then so that if we do get enough people wanting one, we could create a "mini-me" group buy.

More thoughts on this?,
xian

Acura woodbine has started to sell progress... I'm sure they'd be happy to create a group buy...

Is there that much of a difference in handling between the RSX and Progress bar?
I'm just trying to justify the cost right now...

For 3mm, I'll stick with the RSX and get a dc sports/neuspeed tie bar and still have money left over for a front upper strut bar.
Good luck anyways...

yeah, i'm thinking the same thing, i've already got some of the neuspeed parts so i thought i'd stick with the neuspeed setup. i'm just waiting for a locaal dealer to be able to get the lower tie, and front x brace. then i'll be set. apparently neuspeed doesn't have a sway bar kit for the gen7s, so i'm sticking with the rsx too. on top of that, i've heard that the rear progress sway needs the front one to compliment it.

hi guys,

i was reading grey's diy post for the progress rear sway bar (for the umpteenth time) and what i can't figure out is if i get the rsx sway bar, do i just drill holes and bolt it on or do still need a mounting kit of some sort?

also, what are bushings? they are mentioned all the time, but i still have no clue what they are.

confused,

gasboy

thanks for the link, REDVIC.

unfortunately, i'm installing onto a 2001 lx coupe so no endlinks on my car

if i just buy an rsx sway bar, what kind of shop do i take it to for it to be installed? are there shops that just do custom work for suspensions?

maybe i can just glue it on, and tie some string around it real tight...

ok i think i'm getting closer to figuring this out.

now if i buy an rsx sway bar, what other parts do i need to get it on a 2001 lx coupe? i saw the following list of parts in another thread somewhere, but i think it was for civics that already had a sway bar.

if i get the following parts, is there anything else i'll need? how about end links or brackets?

52300-S6M-A01 SPRING, RR. (19MM)* 1 $60.16 $60.16
52306-S6M-A01 BUSH (19MM)* 2 $3.45 $6.90
52308-S6M-000 HOLDER, R. RR. 1 $3.18 $3.18
52309-S6M-000 HOLDER, L. RR. 1 $3.18 $3.18
95701-08018-08 BOLT, FLANGE (8X18) 4 $0.47 $1.88

so confusing....
