using hyper silver rims in winter...

i was just wondering if it would be safe to use hyper silver rims in winter without the salt damaging the finish if I sprayed them with water twice a week and washed them with soap once a week?

I'm also using z rated summer tires...so far i haven't noticed any problems with the tires gripping the road but I haven't used them in snow yet.

any advice woultd be much appreciated...

Honestly I can't see salt being to good for the finish of your rims. Road salt being left on your rims for more then a day could probably do some damage in the long run.
But what I'd be most worried about is driving around in Z rated tires especially in the snow. If I were you I'd drive really really carefully or just put the stock rims and tires back on. One little slip up in those Z rated tires and boom, you smack a curb and need a new rim.

Yea, you can do it, but I would stay off the road if there was alot of snow, z-rated tires won't hold as good as allseason but it should be enough under normal winter conditions, Just wash your rims with soap after it snows or when you see salt building up on them and you should be alright. I've done that before and had no problems

My rims are Hyper Silver and I took them off a long time ago. I dont want to take any chances ruining them.
They are much too expensive to waste.
I used to have a set of rims with a machined aluminum finish and the salt ate the clear laminate coating right off in certain spots... it looked like crap up close.
I know it sucks to put the stocks back on cause the aftermarket rims really make the car look sweet, but you should really protect them from seeing any salt at all. I had to learn the hard way.

Z-Rated tires? LOL be prepared for doing 360's unexpecterly... i remember my friends hatch spinning around on the HWY 7 with his 17's and summer rubber... they don't grip.
