tinted license plate protectors in ontario...
i'm talking about those blue/smoke/red tinted license plate protectors... are they legal? [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]
i herad they were illegal like a year ago.......
but i still have my smoke colour on. i think the law is as long as your license plate is visible.

As for the blue tint one... I heard the cops can give you a ticket for that, if they wanted to...
For the smoke tint, I heard that's illegal, cuz it's too dark...
... Red? I haven't seen a red one. But I'm guessing that's illegal too! Every lil' thing nowadays seems to be illegal in some way!

Rep Power: 0 I've had my blueish tint on my rear plates and I've been pulled over a few times and yet no ticket for them. I got tickets for my muffler and speeding but never for plate covers yet. As for it being illegal or legal, I know for sure that they are illegal. I just wonder why I never got a ticket for it yet. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/IMG]

Rep Power: 0 checked it out for ya!! my buddy is a cop and drives a sick white type R....... as long as its not too dark its not illegal.....as long as your plate is always visible...
You can get a ticket if your plate isnt visible say becuase of tooooo much dirt or SALT in this crappy weather....but thats only if they want to be jerks

Rep Power: 0 I've got em too, and when I got pulled over last, the cop said he would be NICE and not give me a ticket for my license plate covers, and that I should take them off. Before that, nothing, and nothing since. Just depends on the cop I guess. [IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

Rep Power: 0 I have blue ones, but they've faded over the yeras and almost look clear now. Been pulled over a few times, but I've yet to get a ticket for them.
Besides, Canadian Tire sells them.. I haven't seen those guys sell anything illegal yet for the cars. If so, you can always get them to pay for your ticket, or sue them.. yes, you can milk them for money.. I've done it before! ($350)

A guy I know in London had the Blue one's and got a ticket. Needles to say, I didnt' want to take the chance so I bought the clear one for the rear. The front one is uncovered so maybe i'll get a smoked one.

if u wanna risk it's up to u... i've been drive my civic just 1 yr and 4 months
and total i got is 15 tickets... don't ask me what they are.... cause it's bullshi*
and i have been pull over so many time because my high skewl is rite across
a police station... Markville secondary...keke... and i 've been pull over so many
times but alot of times they let me go.. they didn't said nothing about the license
plate but one time i was drive at nite around 7 pm it's dark.. and than he said my
exhaust was too loud.... and he said can't see my license plate.... well.. that time
i didn't wash my car for so many day!!!!like 3-4weeks hahaha.... but he still gave
me a ticket...cause he couldn't see it... well..after i check i could n't see it either..
ekek..o well...that's my story about the license plate..keke.~

rear plate doesnt get dirty as bad and quickly as the front, so I dont think I'll cover the rear.
maybe I'll save the extra one in case the one I put on cracks.

Rep Power: 0 I have blue ones on both front and back. I had no problems yet. If they are illegal, why would they sell them in the first place? I know the polarized plate covers are illegal. But normal ones?

Rep Power: 291 Well I just got puller over speeding doing 115km/h in an 80zone but he lowered to 95km/h in an 80 so no points and only 52 bucks! But before he left he told me that the blue plate covers are illegal on the back so I asked about the front and he said it is illegal there just not really concerned about the front one, But he didnt give me aticket for that so its cool think I might take em off tho and put the clear ones on front and back!
And for Canadian Tire not seeling illegal stuff??? Well they seel those neon lights that go around your plates and there illegal! CT can sell whatever they want even if it is illegal. They can say there for off road use ya know!

I *had* smoked plates in the front, but ***** f-kers keep on bashing into my plates when parking, so I went thru 2 of em. Now, I just have a pretty hard to read license plate, it's all bashed in and warped
