Install Tweeter on LX Sedan?
I'm interested in getting component speakers for up front in my '02 LX Sedan. I would ideally like to mount the tweeters up behind the mirror like they are mounted in the Si coupes.
I talked to the guys at a local car audio shop and they said I should check with Honda to see if they have a kit to replace the plastic covers that are there now with ones designed to hold a tweeter. I would have thought it was as simple as drilling a hole in the existing plastic piece, but they seemed to think that would not give enough depth clearance and the tweeter mount kit would bring it out more.
I went to my dealer parts dept to ask about it, he printed me off a page for a part that was a 'tweeter kit' it looked like it came with the oem tweeters (which I don't want) but I didn't really see anything in the picture that looked like the actual plastic piece that they sit in. Not to mention it was $160 which is a little silly. He said I can't get it without the actual tweeters either, not that it would probably make that much difference, crappy little paperweight oem speakers.
Anyone here in CanEast have any advice or knowledge of how to do this and what parts I can get in the TO area? thx

i have the sedan and it came with the tweeter pkg. when i got it i was like what the hell. the tweeters were on the friggin door panels. the dealer told me that the mirror peice will only fit the coupe b/c of different windows. the best idea i came up with is to find a ratchet that is the size of your tweeter and heat it up, pess it in to the plastic peice behind the side mirror. this gives you a nice little cubby to sort of flush mount your tweet. make sure you angle it towards the armrest for best sound. once it is all done cover it with a fine mesh material that matches your cars interior
naw i have an extra set ...the tweeter mounts for the sedan you can buy them from honda...12 bucks for both..it fits perfectly..i didn' t end up using it because most components you can drill right in...and angle them the way you want....so you have many options..i say just drill so you can angle for a better sound stage..

profurious, which sedan do you have that came with the tweeters? or did you pay extra for it?

I think they gave you the pricing of the wrong thing. That is the actual tweeter.
Go and ask for the tweeter housing instead of the kit.

i told him i didnt want the tweeter, just the plastic piece with the hole in it to replace the one thats there now. he said you couldnt get it on its own. i'll go back and try again. stillmatik suggested popping out the one thats there now and taking it in to show them.
doesn't it look like the one in that picture is designed to go on the door rather than up behind the mirror? weird.
