Putting on your rims/tires

Is it a good idea to bolt your rims on yourself? Some say yes, some say NO, Save myself the money and bullshit of putting 4 tires in my backseat.. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, if it is too cold, I would bring it to the garage. But I would do it myself if it is not too cold outside.

If you're switching from rims to steelies, do you need to align them after you put them on?

Thanks,

$20 for all 4 tires? after tax? The least inexpensive place I found charges $8/wheel before tax and that is 2 yrs ago.

no, as long as your wheel/tire combo stays balanced.

crappy tire said they would swap my 4 rims off to put my winter steelies back on for $12+tax.

however they wanted me to wait all friggen day for them to do it.

I said screw it and did it myself. It's fine afaik but you will need the following:
good jack (hydralic trolley jack)
jack stands
torque wrench

I suppose you could lift one wheel off the ground at a time with the Honda scissor jack if you wanted to waste a lot of time.
Do -not- try to lift an entire end of the car with the scissor jack! ugh, I tried this, then decided it was worth the $30 for the trolley jack which I'll keep with me for the future. damn you scissor jack!
