Man, Please Read, About Insurance!

Ok my dad's insurance is about to expire and he wants my name on the policy (finally). anyways we got 2 cars. i want my dad to be the principal of both car but they won't allow it and i have to be principal of the civic. came out to be a whopping 7000+ tax. i have a G. where can i get lower insurance and how do i get my dad as both principal if possible? my mom has a license too. would it be cheaper to add her as a principal to one of the cars? she has no insurance record. please list your insurance broker number and name if possible. expires next month!

thanks.

Alrighty than.. how do you supposed it's possible to be a principal driver on two cars? impossible..

But your mom can be.. .. that's the route i would for sure take.. Have your mom the principal driver of your car.. and you secondary.. i'd doubt that you'll be paying anything more than 1500 a year..

Where the hell did you go to get a quote for $7000?!?!?!? What did you do, hit bus full of school children? I think you'd be better off with your mom as the primary on your car and you as a secondary driver. Most places won't insure one person as principal on 2 cars if there's more drivers in the house... They're not that stupid.

7 GRAND?! Thats way too high!!! Whats your record like? If you get into an accident or two, i could see it being that much, but if your clean then it can't be that expensive...

i'm 19, full G license recently. Never insured before. 100% clean record. the reason is because i have to be the primary driver of the civic si. 7000 +tax is total for 2 cars with my father. i'm not in luck. mom does NOT have a license.

haha, that's what i told them. but their rules go. younger person, more expensive car. which is stupid for the reason if my dad owned a porsche and i bought a civic.

other car, 92 dodge caravan.

well they told me that if i'm insured with the less valued car i cannot drive the more valued car but if i'm insured with the more valued car i can drive the less valued car. get what i'm saying? so if what he told me was applied to u, that would mean technically u can't drive ur civic if ur insured with the crapbox. maybe i should give ur place a call. lol

if you crash, your dad's rate will go up, so suck it up and pay it under your name...

I know the feeling, I'm paying 5000. I'm going to look for a cheaper option, damn ING Halifax. Let's just say the agent didnt even bother to quote me for RSX or Tiburon as primary driver, hecne the civic LX, not even a SI.

effing racers and thiefs ruining it for everyone.

as much as i hate to admit it, but honda drivers are the some of the most reckless on the road.

i'll suck it up if u give me 5000 for insurance. not everybody has 5000 to blow. yea my dads policy will go up if i get in an accident. u say it like all young ppl are going to crash. u think just like all the insurance company and u expect them to think different. i just use the car to get to a and b and c....not show, speed...yes i still can get an accident. but i don't talk like i'm going to get into one.

because statistics tend to alienate us young drivers as the 'bad company'.. I dont like it any more than you do. you may not speed, but larger percentage of our age bracket does than older age bracket. I'm not talking like an isurance company, just stating the obvious.

it doesnt help some of us live in cities. Still, that the price we pay.. somehow, after the initial shock and disappointment [for having to give up on RSX and tiburon] 5k doesnt seem so bad anymore at least initially.... As a primary driver, early 20s, along with a younger brother as secondary, it's not easy finding a better rate, let alone someone who will insure me.

Its cause you live in cambridge. Ppl in toronto get ripped off for insurance. especially if you live in the downtown core. My insurance would be $1000 cheaper if i lived in london. ontario.

Ripped off?? Considering your driving one of the the most stolen vehicels in one of the biggest, most crime ridden cities in Canada what do you expect - Insurance covers the risk - If your a big risk you pay more - if your a good risk you pay less ....lets see if you say its a rip off whne you break both your legs in an accident and can't work .....I hate it whne people say "I've been paying insurance for X number of years and get nothing " You get protection ......You do something wrong you deserve to be punished -

ING Halifax? Well, that says all...

ING Halifax is.... .they handle the ... 'auxilliary' market? Can't remember the term, maybe it's 'secondary', but the point is ING Halifax handles the "bad drivers", drivers with 2+ accidents.....

I'm with ING Halifax (well, via broker), though I think my broker pushed me onto their own (Pembridge)

I'm paying a whooping $5500 or so for my EL.... primary driver, 2 at faults.....

Its called Facility - the "secondary" market - and not just ING handles them - all big insurance companies (companies who write at least 10% of the market in auto) have a facility account - some companies like Co-op, and Economical create smaller companies like Echolon and Perth to deal with these crappy drivers
