Ingen CAI installed!
Gusto and I stayed up way late last night for this...
to him for doing it.
We had a bit of trouble getting around things and finding things during the install, but after cutting a couple of plastic pieces we were ok. Although the front lights ground with a ring held down by a bolt, and for some reason the Injen supplied part to replace that bolt is a rubber cork on the inside and bolt on the outside... Thus the ring doesn't fit around the threads properly for good grounding. We were quite annoyed and took a while to figure that out. It's still a bit loose now, as the ring just isn't sitting on the screw for good groudning, and now my high-beam on the right side is dead, so I'll have to get that fixed soon or I'll need to change out the bulb all the time!
Anyway, all the technicallities aside, the CAI rides phat! Ok, I agree with Machina that CAIs will take a bit of push off the line. It's expected tho, coz now I don't have that massive air box right next to the engine for taking in air, instead the filter has to suck in air first... Not a biggy.
Most noticeable thing, my car drives much much less like AT now! With the cold air, the engine revs much easier (and actually giving some gains). Before I'd step on it and get 0---3.5k... step more vrrrooom 4.5k and some pull then, now I'd step on it and vrroom, it goes past 3.5k past 4.5k easy. So even with an AT I now have good control of the engine. Of course, knowing well how much this car can go, I agree there isn't too much (if any) hp gains at any point. It's got to do with how much more willing the engine likes to rev up now, whereas before I'd need to floor it to get the same result, now I just need to apply some gas and let the CAI suck in what air I need.
Definitely a worthwhile mod. I'm sure I'll be enjoying this! Gonna definitely plan for HP 4-1 and a catback to compliment the CAI. Although installation is quite a bit harder than the AEM, as you need to get it around and under the battery and out to the fender well in front of the fender splash guard... Injen's instructions are hard to interpret at first, until you take everything out! Battery and bumper...

haha i dont think it really does matter if u drive ur car without going over 3-4K rpm
u should still be doing fine
like for me i have IEH and i do bout 500-550 on a full tank and still have like 1/4 -1/8 left of gas
but if i boot it , which i do on the weekends or friday night on my way home i have like SHIEET mileage (450-480)
and u also have to put into effect the fact that Msoft is auto there fore gas mileage is different that ur standard LX. u should be doing far more than Si's or auto since u do have lower HP (sorry) but u have better mileage.

Ahem, sorry, I just found that funny....
sorry for going off topic... but ya,
how the heck do you guys get so much? i have an Lx coupe standard and i get around 450kms on a full tank till its 1/4 or 1/8 left in the tank. highway and local street drving. and this is when i dont even rev past 4--- rpm.
when i first picked it up, i went about 550kms, but im not sure if honda over filled my gas tank.
at first i started with 89octane with petro canada, but since im tight on cash right now, i've been going with 87octane the past three, four fill ups. and it seems like i get less milage with 87octane

Haha, I did 90% watching and 10% work. Gusto did most of the work. I won't mind coming by if he's doing it, and help. Or if you're feeling adventurous I can help you work it if you have the tools.
Right now I gotta find a solution to the grounding problem first, maybe a U washer will fit in there and give it some ground....

Wicked Msoft!

So you finally got it installed....I know you were pretty anxious for it....just like all of us when we order something.
Gusto you totally deserve props. You were a big help for me as well when I watched you install my Altezza Grill... Thanks!!
Cant wait to hear it Msoft, I would like to know how much sound difference from SRI to CAI.

Well, I assume sound is similar, coz it just the matter of filter in engine bay or filter down near bumper.
Gusto's one super fast bumper-remover... I was gonna time him last night but I thought it'd not be fair coz it was 3am and we're both dazed from the lack of light working in the car so late!

I get consistantly OVER 600kms on 1 tank of gas!!!!! i don't know why??? I just drive nice a cruse alot.
The first fill up I got 480kms on a tank then it went up to 500kms per tank and then 550kms per tank and now its stopped at OVER 600kms per tank. I guess I broke in my engine really well????
I love my car cause its so efficient on gas. I guess I got a great engine!!!!!!!

I have a relatively stock Si! Em, except for the CAI, and Sportlines and Konis... But I'm AUTO, so you will have a chance!
