Don't be trusting words from Ebay sellers.

You won't get anywhere near 5-10hp without a catback (you won't even with a catback). I think the general concensus is that you'll maybe get 2-3hp from an intake, 2-3hp from a catback, and HP claims 10-15 from their header.

Although for sound, the Apex-i has a really good sounding muffler.

Plus, you want to get a muffler that's made for our cars, not the universal ones, if possible.

You've been had.

Retail at that place is only $299. Not $480 as they claim.

Don't trust these Ebay deals man... Half of the time they want you in da

Your best bet for performance mod would be to save up for a header... But then again, you'll likely need an intake and catback to make full use of it...

You won't get much from just muffler, you need to do the whole rear section, custom piping etc... Maybe 1-2, 3 max hp.

Muffler only ~$100-200, rear section ~$300-400, full catback ~$1000-1500.

Sound is personal pref, coz there are loud or deep or high tones depending on which one you choose.

heh.. i dunno if u can find one for 300 a universal muffler of name brand but i can be wrong.
hehe..
i think the fireball kind muffler's are meant to be high pitched and loud
if u want a semi loud and deep sound get like a dunk type muffler!!
or u try getting one that looks like the tanabe ones.. (stock looking) for a deep low sound hehe

----
if u decide on header , dont make the same mistake as me.. if ur gonna do up ur engine go for the header if ur not .. i suggest u dont bother with it.

just a waste of dough and time!

I'll let you know what I did with my car.

I wanted new exhaust, but didn't want to spend lots of money. I made a custom axal back exhaust. This is the rear section of the exhaust.

I bought a used Apexi N1 for $200 and then went to a place and got custom piping done to make it fit onto on stock mid-pipe. It actually bolts right on to where the stock rear section comes off. This cost about $50.

Now, as people said the N1 muffler is load, but if you do as I did its not gonna be really loud. you are gonna be able to hear it but its not gonna be annoying like those riceboyz guys. I have notised a little increase in performance above 100km/h with no low end torque loss.

So I got some performance, some good sound and at a total price of $250!!!!
It makes sense since our cars are not fast, why spend $1000 on a 127hp civic???

So, get a used name brand muffler or a new cheap no-name one and get custom piping from the axal back.
This is will get you want you want, little performance, sound , looks. For a good price.

Thats the route I went and its in really happy I did it that way.
