sometimes i just regret getting a black car, seems to me everytime i wash it, i see more and more scratches and swirls. i think its time for a buff, how much does one cost and where? i think i need a full body buff.

i have no guts to do it myself, scared i mite burn the paint. recommend me a shop and the cost please. thanks.

from what i remember a few months ago, canadian tire was selling this small handheld buffer..
looks innocent looking, and it doesn't seem like it has enough power to burn a hole in the paint...
$80

im not sure if it's worth it..

check out Fine Details...they are the car cleaning specialist and they can wax, paint sealant, or high speed polish your car

I'd like that too, and definitely rec. for chip/scratch fixing and such. Somebody point us to the right shop that'll do a good job!

You also have to watch how you wash/dry/wax your car each time! You should be doing it all in one direction consistently, or else you will get swirl marks.

For the Hood, Roof, Trunk, you should be washing in a vertical motion. For the Fenders, Doors, and rear quarter panels, you should be washing the car in a horizontal motion. You wash in the direction of wind for the best possible shine.

You'll never prevent swirl marks. Ever.

You have no idea man. I just paid $430 to fix a tiny dent in my hood, have that part painted, and the whole thing cleared over. Even out of the shop it's loaded with buffer swirl marks on both front fenders and all over the hood and bumper. It's freaking terrible. No one, i mean NO ONE knows how to work on cars around here. It's pathetic. I wish I had bought silver. My last car was silver and it was so easy to maintain.

There is a wonderful bodyshop in Hamilton called Midtown CarStarCollision. It's a family runned business, but very professional, and they are EXTREMELY talented.

Everyone complains about how most bodyshops cannot match the satin silver paint, but these guys can get it on 100% perfect. I replaced a few bits of my front end, including the front bumper, and it looks factory fresh. They did such a good job, that my original rear bumper is the only part that is off colour (as you all know, bumper, mirror & door handle colours are different from the body).

They also worked on my brother's old MR-2. The paint was very dull with swirel marks. After it was stolen, they repaired it and buffed it down under warrenty. It was soooo shiney when we got it back! I couldn't believe my eyes, it was like a brand new paint job again.

These guys aren't cheap, but their workmanship is premium. Give them a call and ask for a quote, it might be worth your while.

I'm buying a craftsman random orbital buffer this weekend. Hopefully I can get the swirl marks out.
