OT/FS: Computers etc.
If anyone else here are in the same field, sorry, I'm not looking to compete, just letting y'all know I'm a source.
I do reselling/system building/consulting. If you need part/system/network let me know. No overhead, so better price than stores, and I work for an IT consulting company as full time, so guarantee I know what I'm doing.
I'll do less than my usual markup for this forum, as long as time is not an issue (I don't do full time reselling anymore, so if you can wait a week (max, usually 3-4 days turnaround) for a part, I can give you a good price) and you're willing to meet with me halfway (of course I can't travelling 100km to sell you a $40 video card, haha, but reasonable distance is all good, or a central locale like Pac Mall, hahaha).
Systems will always be good specs, good prices, and standard 1yr parts/labour. I'll do proposals for free for network/consulting jobs if you have business needs.
Just FYI, throw questions/inquiries my way if you want, and I'll always be happy to answer personal computer problems too, no consulting charge!

As for RAM, I'll need to get the latest on Monday from my distributor, prices change each day. And you need to tell me what type! SDR, DDR, or Rambus.
HDDs are going to cost you $100~$150 depending what size. 30GBs are gone due to the HD platters now being 20GB based. I can hook you up with a Maxtor 20GB 7200 for $120 tax in, or 40GB 7200 for $130 tax in. I also have Seagate and IBM for HDDs. Prices are similar.

I'm not sure if this thread will ever get locked, but I'd like to leave it open as to discussion for prices so everyone knows. 2k1SiCDN you're gonna have to be more specific on the video card. Prices for those range from $50 to $300!! You have to pick a brand and model, and I can pick a good manufacturer of the card: ATI Radeon 7500, 8500, Nvidia GEForce 4 MX, 3 Ti, 4200, 4400, etc.

For the ram I'm pretty sure it's SDram but I'll double check.
Well if the prices for HD's are that close I might as well go for a 40gb drive! I'll let you know in a week or so.
What kind of warranty can I expect with this stuff?
One last thing... can you find out the price on a 16x or higher internal cd burner? Thanks

Thanks for the prices... I've got an ATI video card right now but it's only a 16mb, I haven't really done any homework lately on this stuff as I've had no time. Basically I don't need anyting too crazy as I probably won't use it to it's fullest capabilites, something that's good for games. (ie Warcraft 3 )

As for SDRam, I'm not absolutely sure, but I believe the range is now less than $50 for 128, I'll get some concrete price on Monday, but of course, RAM prices fluctuate as much as 10% a day.
Yeah, HD prices are always close. But a couple of $10 and $20 for-the-next-one-up will end up costing you a lot more, haha... Let me know.
As for warranty, it's 1 year manufacturer warranty for most stuff, and 3 for HDD. I'll honor 1 year from me (I'll take care of warranty issues within the year). Also, if it's one year and the problem is with the part, labour in replacing it will be free (thus, parts/labour warranty 1 yr).
16x burners are out. 24x are the smallest they go these days, and depends on the brand. I can tell you around $80~$90 is what you can expect.

Of course!! GF MX cards are for weaklings.
I'd say these days, for gaming, the lowest to go is a GF3 Ti or Radeon 8500. Next step up would be the GF4 4200 then 4400 then 4600.
Radeon 9000 and 9700 will be out in October, I think, and they'd be even better! You'll never win with video cards, new ones come out too soon, but $150~$200 range ones are always good buys.

Your best bet for a good high-end video card that's not a killer price is the GF4 4200.
You can get that for $250~$300 depending on which brand and how much memory (64/128). I sell MSI, Chaintech, Leadtek, and OEM cards. The next step down would be GF3 Ti which are $150~$200.
So give me a budget and I quote you a price and model.
