No POWER!!!
I'm so tired of reading about every car out there with more power than ours, I saw the Suzuki Aerio, it has 140 hp and 135 torque, it would leave even an Si in the dust, lightweight too. And then the Sentra Se-r spec V, 180hp, 170 torque. 17" rims factory, all this for just 23000. wtf is goin on.
It's not the amount of horsepower that's under your hood, it's the type of shoes you're wearing that matters. And plus civics are waaaaay lighter than suziq aerios, it only weighs like 2 lbs.

Don't get caught up in the ratings games.....
If you don't believe me, check out Chrysler's 300M. Supposively 250HP, or some crap. But it does 0-60mph in 8.3seconds...
Similar sized & power Acura TL Base does it in almost full 2 seconds faster!
As far as Suzuki Aero goes, it's over-rated as usual.... just check out the test scores and reviews if you don't blelieve me. All the drivers are saying it does not feel like 140HP. And time slips? Nothing special.. a little slower then Civics actually!

Also when it comes to modding your car, nothing can compare to a Civic !! So much stuff out there for our cars, and the list keeps getting better, with those other cars there isn't a whole lot you can do with them.
sooner or later.. turbo chargers and superchargers will be available as a bolt on for our civics.. hahahah cant wait.. i'll deffinitely want to buy a supercharcher!!!
u might want to rephrase that
u want torque not HP. HP means max Kph
lol
well it doesnt matter its a car. ur not driving a race car.
civic has its advantages
sentra has their's and so on!!

I don't think modding is a good comeback to the fact that competition has more horsepower in stock form....
Spending $5000 on just a forced induction means you could've bought a faster & better car to begin with. Plus how many of you are actually going to go thru with it? The fact that you bought a brand new Honda, and voiding the warrenty and majorly screwing with the egine means the "Honda Quality" has pretty much gone out the window. There are more proven engines out there than our new 1.7s anyway, like the tried, test & true 1.6Ls, with mega modds available, *NOW*. If drag-racing is your #1 priority, NOS kits are always available for 7th Gen Civics.
Having said that, $23,000 for a Senta that can rape Civics is a good deal............ if that's all you care about. But then again, a few months ago, I saw clearance Mustang GT Convertibles, selling for $24999............... you can SpecV a Sentra as much as you want, it ain't gonna touch a V8.
You buy economy cars, for economy--it's cheap, and it's cheap in the long run. Economy cars lower insurance rates, maintence costs, gas consumption and has better resale value. Sentras does not top Civics in those most critical areas. Combination of those factors plus awesome reputation is why Civic is the class market leader.
Followers of the market leader have to do everything better. That is just the fact of life. Why get the 2nd best, for the same price? In order for Sentra to be even in competition with Civics, they HAVE to offer more horsepower, bigger engine, bigger wheels, better stereo etc etc... but like I said, if those things are your priority, maybe you should consider moving UP the economy class. And look into the sports coupe market, like RSX, Celica, Eclipse, Tiburon, Couger, etc...

hahahaha thats jokes
well HP= more max speed
torque= to more pull power
well it doesnt matter whats what!!!
a car is a car. same reason why people buy black, silver, white, red and so forth.
companys have different ways of marketing their products and stuff.
same way we have AEM, Injen, Skunk2, DC sports...blah blah blah
honda is not the only company that has the longest life on cars.
its up to the owner to be respectful of their cars and treat it good therefore it last longer
u see all these older gen mustangs still on the road and trans ams...
and man even though im asian i give them thumbs up for that.
its cool seeing those old beast still on the road!

you're comparing the wrong cars my friend.
i dont know about the aerio, but i do know about the sentra se-r spec v... it should be compared to the civic SiR... as in 160hp/w TONS of potential.
If you want to compare your car to a sentra, compare it to the regular 126hp one... otherwise in a few years you'll continue down this path and be complaining that a BMW 3 w/333 hp is more powerful than your V6 minvan!

Actually........ that analogy is no good.
You have to look at it from DOLLAR point of view. If somebody offers you a better car, for the same money, then it's better value.
If Nissan is offering a Sentra that is faster than the Civic, at the same price, then that's a legit advantage for Nissan. No unfair comparison here.
last post before i go to bed...
good point o1coupe...
canadians/americans alwayz complain about too many imported cars... they don't realize it is the imported automobiles that lowers the price and interest rate on their american junk box...
0% finance is like their final move in chess before checkmate...

so long as you're not racing whats the big deal anyways. plus factor in weight, response, torque and potential.... a car is what you make of it.... its a good car, if you care to put effort into it in the end im sure you ended up with a finished product you're proud to drive. but if you really cant stand you're civic, atleast the resale value is good.
