You gotta remember that the horsepower you guys are hearing about is according to the manufacturer. An SI actually has 127hp to the fly but the others although saying 140 or 180 are technically 20-30 less to the fly. We would kick the crap out of an Aerio...don't worry!

This post was about no power! I love the way my civ looks, I love the way it handles. BUT it has no guts. I know all about the factors that affect performance. I've owned (in the past ) a '69 mustang Mach1 with a 351 windsor and toploader 4 speed , 4.11 rear gears, my first car was a '67 chevelle with a 327 and a powerglide. I want power and I'm not willing to pay Honda 26000 for the new SIR with 160 hp. I wish , as far as Honda's go, I would have bought a 2000 sir, they have huge mods. Ours have none and I wouldn't hold your breath for when they arrive. My point is that if the Sentra can make 180 hp for 23000, why can't Honda. I think Honda's engineering is without equal, I think they could have put out much more power for much less money.
Well enough of my ramblings, I shall give my civ to my wife and go shopping for some pure performance, maybe that Silvia conversion I've always wanted to do, or the 351 windsor miata. hmmmmmm....

With more power comes more gas usage..

Which eliminates the purpose of a civic.

Unfortunetly for us.. they're not making these cars for the young guys.. making them for the family. So that's what the engineers are aiming for..
