I got in a big accident before....like back in november... I had a 2001 civic coupe, and got into a T bone accident, but thank got it wasn't my fault. Anyways it was really big, the whole engine was gone, it was crushed... so basically the car was a right off, cuz too much $$ to fix, so they gave me another brand new 2002 civic coupe 2 month after without paying anything extra...

unstoppable...are the cops gonna investigate on the reason for the accident and are they gonna charge you for reckless driving?? wat about the owner of the backyard you crashed into?? are they planning to lay charges on you???
better have your heads up for those thingy...

The cop was really nice. She told me she would not press any charges. So she asked me how fast I was going, and I said around 70...this is a 50 zone, and she put down 80 though......I don't know if this will affect my premium? Basically I said I saw a dog on the road, and I tried to avoid it, I jerked the wheel to the left, back tires spun out, and the rest is history......I believe the insurance will pay for the damage to the fence. Thank god I didn't crash on the other side of the road.....as the fence was concrete.
Hey Quackers, do you think you can give me some info about your claim? How much did your premium go up as a result of this write off? How long did it stay increased for?
My biggest concern is just my premium right now, as it will determine whether or not I'll be able to drive again.

Glad to hear there were no serious injuries. Guess you'll think again before going 70 over the speed limit...good thing you didn't actually tell the cop the truth about the speed you were going, you'd be lucky if they would have ever allowed you to drive again (I think 50 over is an automatic on-the-spot license suspension). Actually, you and your passenger are just lucky to be alive.
I'd watch your insurance. They may be leery of all that damage on your car for going "80". My insurance tried to screw me big time for an accident that wasn't my fault by boosting my insurance from $1500 to $4000 and dropping my rating to 0, and another accident in 3 years would cancel my policy. But I got that straightened out back to normal ($1500 and 9 stars, no accident on my record)...they never even gave me a proper explanation why or how they screwed up. They're a bunch of thieves anyways. See if you are entitled to one accident forgiveness, and if so, you may get off from your insurance, otherwise, expect something like what my insurance tried to pull on me, or worse, because your accident was far worse than mine. You will get some serious demerit points on your record though, at the very least.
The car sounds like a write off, but even if they do have it repaired, it might as well be one. It will never be the same again, especially if you have to have the wheels and/or suspension repaired. It will never handle the same and it will never look the same either. I would be very suprised if it came out of the body shop with the same tight and smooth body panel fit as it did when it came off the assembly line.
Good luck on everything, and DRIVE SAFELY!

All I can say now is, you'll never learn to appreciate something, until it's gone. I miss my car soo much. The past couple days, going back to the dealership and seeing my car , and just sleeping at night when I think about my car, it just makes me cry. It's so sad.

WTF were you thinking? 120km/h in a Civic? AND stock rubber? On a turn?
Most important, above all, is that you're fine, and your passenger who was stupid enough not to wear a seatbelt, is also fine.
Anyhow, good or bad, you're car is most likely a writeoff. I crashed my 2000 Civic EX sedan on Halloween 2000, and it was a total writeoff, no doubt. I rearended going ..... 110km/h or so. The car was still driveable (so says the guys at Honda who had to move it around the lot), and the engine itself could easily have been a swappable engine (even though it being a cheap D16Z engine)...Mind you, my front was entirely SMASHED, except my $600 fogs! I felt sooooooooooo relieved that I was the only one in the car at the time of the accident.
Lucky lucky for me I had WAIVER OF DEPRECIATION! If you buy a new car, and get this (it varies in price), in the event your car is considered a writeoff in an accident, you get the price of the car with NO depreciation. i.e. the price you paid at the dealer! I was originally paying $3000/yr. I already had 1 accident. After this, I was royally screwed, and had to shell out $6300/yr! For a friggen 1.7EL! I'm still paying that. My insurance is up in a couple weeks, and I'm looking at .... hopefully $4700/yr which is alot better.
Basically, you're screwed for quite some time...at least 3 yrs. Some things that could save you from messed up premiums like me is if 1) you're over 25, 2) married, or 3) not listed as primary driver on the car.
I was charged with.... "careless driving", and I had POINTTS fight it. The cop did not show up and my *** was saved.
You have pics? Go to the dealer and take some pics of your car. It'll be a sight to remember. Find attached a pic of my car, about 30 minutes after I hit a friggen 1988 TANK.
BTW: Will all of your mods be covered? Did you notify your insurance company of the modifications? (before the accident). If so, did your premiums go up? The reason I'm asking is back in 2000, I had PIAA fogs, a Clifford alarm, and labour for front grilles. They covered all that no questions asked (could have been the waiver of de.). Nowadays, as I'm searching for a new insurance company, alot of them ask if you've made modifications to your car over $1500, etc....

naw Carmen wasn't in the car when I crashed the car. You think she's safe Netcbc?
The car is a write off.
I'm saving up for a RSX now...parents are going to buy a family car for the mean time, while I'm gonna work my butt off this summer. Man just found out Canadian RSX doesn't have Pearl White, so I might end up getting a black. Is it expensive getting a car down here from the U.S.? However what we have the U.S. doesn't have is Gun Metal rims, heated seats/mirrors, Milano Red, and eer somethign else.
I seen the veilside body kits on the RSX and it's crazy. The mugen one looks good as well.

Yea Net, that's why it still boggles me why I crashed. I've lived in this area for 10 years, and I know that road in the back of my head. I guess my car didn't hold that day.
Anyone have opinions about the corolla?

Let me see, it doesn't matter how long you've lived in the area for. 120km/h on a turn, along with stock tires (firestones), you are so lucky it didn't happen sooner.
I wouldn't even try 100km/h on any highway on-ramps. Those speeds are way to crazy.

to be honest to think about, 120 on that road is too difficult, if u were lowered and had some better tires, it would be cake, not saying ppl should do it, because u shouldn't but with firestones and the height we have, no good
WHAT PRELUDE?
hahahahaha
supyo u should read the honda sites more often
the prelude is discontinued every where. lolz
dude u didnt get back to me bout the front and rear winter mats hahaha
ah well
the corolla is a nice car.!!

Anyway, i decided to put my two cents into this thread although i am way off the current topic.
The other day, there was this Civic SI and Civic SIR that were racing (exact locations aren't required!). Guess what, the SIR crashed into a hydro pole head on at around 80kmh? yup. Crashed right into it, the driver's side first. The car would more or less be a right off. Considering the whole engine got crushed. Anyway, the driver was DUI and had his licence cancelled some time back. Guess what? He ran away from his car after the accident... really smart!...
Anyway, the car crashed into the hydro pole on a bend...
Tip: Race only on stright and smooth roads!
Its not worth having >$20,000 go down the sewer just for ONE race.

whats "DUI"?
You don't necessary have to resort to st. line racing, just take it to where it is appropriate, see Solo Ontario for details.
Drive safe and don't block the traffic.
