shaky handle.. what's the problem?
I just put my summer rims and going around 100 km/h, my steering wheel is shaking and when I press the break, the car lean toward on left or right.
When breaking at high speed, the steering wheel is shaking too.
This was happening before but wasn't serious.
but after putting summer Rim, it got worse.
Recent mod was KVR slotted rotor with CF pad.
Could it be the problem?
Thanks in advance

First and foremost, the simplest thing would be to check if your summer rims are bent, or any of the wheel weights have fallen off that could cause the vibration. Check the tire pressure on all tires, more importantly make sure that the 2 fronts are at the same psi.
Also, I cannot remember if your car was lowered, if so did you get an alignment done? toe in or toe out can cause ur car to pull either which way.
As for the brakes, the only logical thing that I could deduct is that hopefully you took it easy on them after we did the initial break-in. if you over-heated them by going hard on them, they could be warped
Oh, was there shaking before the kvr rotors and pads were installed?
hope this helps. Keep us updated

Thanks everyone...
Ken..
The shaking when I was breaking is after the KVR rotor I think...
Shaking at cruising at 100 km/h is after I put the summer rims on I guess...
Where can I check the problem?
any good shops at GTA area?
I just check the tire pressure.. there were no problem.
If the wheel weights are the small blocks inside the wall of the rim, I think some of them are gone from every rims, cause I see some marks that there were something sticked.
Bnet rim... I dont know, when I look at them, It seems fine to me.
So please let me know where I can check this.
Oh.. My car is still under warranty. Can it be covered if it is alignment problem?
Thanks again

that's funny... i was on the dvp today and my steering wheel started to shake a little as well when i hit 100km/h and up...
i just got my new rims on....
ride just got re-dropped... and got an alignment right after.
havent checked the tire pressure.. but i'll give that a check, but even if they were off... i've never had my steering wheel shake at 100km/h and up when they werent the same tire pressure.
as for the rims... maybe the guy didnt balance 'em correctly.......
only logical explanation that wwent through my head was the worn down front lower control arms' bushings that i still had on..... but i dont konw if the bushings would cause my steering wheel to shake at 100km/h and up....

You can take your car to wheels direct and they can balance them for you ($10 a rim i think). If they are bent, they'll let you know or they will show you when its on the machine.

Ken..
Some weights are missing from rear too..(damn)

I will take my car to the Wheels direct.

For the steering wheel shaking look into ballancing all your wheels, as someone said some ballance weights may got lost, causing you to worry.
Allingment will help tire weare, but it has nothing to do with shaking.
Wide tires on uneven road surface = puling of a car to left/right when braking.

Thanks...
Everyone..
I went to wheel direct today and did the balancing on 4 wheels.
Most of the shaking is gone but still there are little bit...
But shaking when breaking is still there...
What do i have to fix now?

Damian, I want you to bring the vehicle up to speed, then push the button on the ebrake lever, and slooooooooooowly pull the ebrake (dont pull it so hard as to make the wheels lock up)
But make sure you're holding the button and pulling the ebrake with increasing pressure. Do NOT push the brake pedal. Do you feel the vibration in the ebrake handle?
If you do, that means that your rear brakes need attention.

i was thinking the pedal was pulsating, i just re-read the thread... its the steering wheel thats shaking
haha nm
i just rebalanced my tires as well........ it's STILL shaking once i hit 100km/h.... it's like a vibration on the steering wheel....
only thing i can come up with is that my bushings on the control arm are worn down but i dont know if that could cause the steering wheel to shake at 100km/h

While you are there is a good idea to give the tire an up and down (push on top and bottom of the wheel alternately), if there is play then that could also indicate worn wheel bearings.
An obvious thing to do would also to check if the tie rod end nut has been tightened properly
If there is no play then that could usually rule out any problems.
