What to prevent rubber seals from cracking?

What to prevent rubber seals from cracking? Hey guys, went to Canadian Tire today, and well, wasn't impressed with their selection of car care products. Just not that store; will have to head out to bigger locations.
Anyway, I was looking for something to 'juice' up rubber seals, gaskets, grommets, etc. You know, stuff like the seal on the sub roof, door jams, etcs.
I would prefer not to have my seals dry out, and crack, and then give me a headache.
Would the "usual" vinyl and leather cleaners be ok? I see your usual bunch of vinyl cleaners, tho not sure if they would work for every time of rubber/plastic that you can find for seals, and anything and everything under the hood....
