Rep Power: 0 Ebrake Handle & Boot Install
Ok so as most of you know I finally bought a matching shift **** to my long alone ebrake handle in the box for almost 2 years...
EDIT:: My handle is just a handle, brushed aluminum, not one of those ones that comes with the boot attached or anything... (those may fit differently, etc.)
So anyway most people told me to simply CUT OFF the ebrake handle and boot plastic thingy that comes stock! However I didn't like that idea so me and my dad started checking it out tonight...
Many may have already figured this out but all you have to do is pull the button off then pop the console up so you can get a grip on the entire boot part and just push up and pull it up from the handle as hard as you can and within a few minutes it just slips right off all in one piece!
So now you can have the nice piece left over so if you ever want to remove ur spiffy new handle and boot you can have something to put back on!
Also my ebrake handle is way too small so my dad has to bore out the inside and shave off some pieces of the brake metal part so it will fit over!
Can this be added to a DIY somehow? I can write one up with pics... Cause I looked and there is nothing explaining how to install ebrake handle or boot or anything!
(EDIT: I ended up cutting the stock ebrake plastic anyway to puff up the new boot, otherwise it is too thin and sinks down into the console too much!)
UPDATE:::::
What you are left with once you remove console and plastic stock ebrake covering
Sawing off a notch on the driver side of the thing
Filing down a raised section on the passenger side of the thing
What you are finished with when you put the stock boot part back on (which is cut off from the one piece you originally take off), put the sexy new leather boot over top, wedge the handle on as hard as you can, and then put the button back on, notice I left it so the button sticks out as little as possible.

Rep Power: 346 ^^^hehehe... MIR is a girl.
But anyways, MIR do you have an 03? Cause the ebrake design is different on the 03's+ then on the 01-02's and I've always wondered if I could put an aftermarket ebrake handle on there.

Rep Power: 0 Oh I do have an 02 I assumed it is similar for each year but I guess not...
If you want send me a pic of your ebrake handle area and maybe I can tell...
Just kind of try and pull things off and such like its a matter of playing with it to try to get it off
Also, I have my dad to my exposal which has a machine shop where he works to his disposal to do all the custom fixin of the size of the ebrake handle etc...if he couldn't do that stuff I would prolly not be able to install it....Cause it wouldn't fit!! Damn universal parts, sureeeee! You would think the Japanese people that make the stuff would make their parts to fit their cars...
P.S. It is so funny how everyone thinks I am a guy! Gurly writing in the sig, dolphin pic in avatar...man they must think I'm a strange guy...

Rep Power: 346 ya you are one fruity dude
Anyways, as for the original ebrake handle... I'll just cut mine off if I ever decide to replace it. It's only like 20bux to replace plus I don't have to sit there and pull like a ****.
Also I'll take a pic of my ebrake handle later... right now im at work.

WHEN I HAVE A LOT OF SPARE TIME I COULD WRITE UP A DIY WITH ARROWS AND SUCH TO THE ALTERATIONS.. SHOULD I? Or does everyone mostly buy those one piece ebrake handles now?
