Looks or Perfomance
I just want to know what you guys/girls are all about. I personally would like to get a nice set or rims but then I think " well there going to cost me like $1500 I could do alot to the motor for that much ". Eventually I will brake down and get some nice chomeeees but untill then the performance haunts me. I need to go fast and most importantly get there faster lol. Any I just want to know if your like me or are you about the look. Personally I think when Im done you can just call me the sleeper. I hope.

I bought my vic done up looks wise with Xenon kit lowered etc. If I were to do it again I would keep it a sleeper with just rims and lowered on the outside. And do engine work or a swap.
Yeah there stock. I just bought the car 3 months ago and im freakin out because I just want to keep droping mods under the hood. Like I bought axle back exhaust 2 weeks after I bought the car and I figured that should hold me over till summer but then last week I bought a A E M v2 CAI and now I just priced out kamikaze header and down pipe.. lmao I think theres something wrong with me.
Yes, it's an Acura EL

I'm all about looks, but performance isn't always measured in horsepower.....so I think my suspension qualifies as performance. Except these wheels though. Can't hit the corners hard with these things.

haha its called the modding bug. Stores love you, your bank account hates you
Its your decision which way to go with your car. Your car, being a reverb model, already has got a lot of the looks going for it. Throwing the money into i/h/e might make you realize you aren't getting a lot back for the buck, but it should sound healthier at least
Personally, I'd go with a slight drop but its your decision like I said. Have fun modding

Looks for me and a bit of tuning.
Honestly, I think it's a waste to drop money into my engine only because our cars are so slow to begin with. Sure it's fun (I'm guilty of buying engine mods too) but unless you do a motor swap or FI, it's really not worth it.

people generally want to go fast and look good.
the problem is that its cheaper to look good then go fast.
in terms of looks you can just add and add small things here and there.
when you want the speed its a one time big hurt in ur wallet...
I/H/E on a stock motor gives you nothing when u think how much money you spent.
i did all the small things to my car initially because of costs and saved as much as i could in the meantime to go faster.
looking back at all the crap i did before my car was fast was a complete waste of money.
its a matter of personal preference what you want your car for.
no one way is the right way.

Good point! I dont know I just nvr really got into looks as much as I did tuning. Ive already got a list of crap I want to do to the motor. I want to go all n/a and I want to start doing internals. ie ( camshaft, 3 point adjustable timing gear, port head ) stuff like that I know it will cost MONEY but its not something I plan on doing overnight and not only that I have to make sure that warrenty will still cover it because I dont want to mess with that. All I know is I now have a good/reliable car worth tuning. I prevously owned a j-body and yes I still loved that car ( was much quicker ) but it was also a peice of CRAP but yet i still tuned. Ive had this bug for like 4 years and it wont go away.
thanks for your input guys keep it coming I want to know why you like tuning or why you make like making womens panties wet while driving by. lmao

yea man...go for rims first. get your car lookin nice first...then just start to gradually piece together a boost kit or somethin. thats what im gonna do.
rims really change the look of your car, they really add to it imo

I think most people go with both, performance and looks or try to..... Performance, especially engine modification cost a **** load of money and a lot of downtime, which means you can't drive it daily and Our civics are daily driven car. I’m sure most people on here started out putting on Air intakes/Exhaust/the basic Bolton’s in their car, our engine is pretty smooth and good enough for city and highway. Personally I think that most people needs to stop complaining about how civics are slow, and rather understand the car, and find/limit the potential b4 swap,boost......

My car started as all show. Kit, rims, drop, etc. But my more recent mods have been more performance oriented. And I guess when I say performance I really mean "fun". I dont really care to much about performance but I got an intake and exhuast to make the car a little more fun. Also started working on the suspension (tokico,s strut bars, torinos) to make the car more fun to drive.
So in summary, I was all about show..now im more about making the ride more fun for me.

performance all the way!!but if you want fun, i would suggest investing on racing/competition, and our civics are not slow at all, hps is nothing without handling and experience
if you're looking for speed and affordability maybe you should look into a different car manufacturer...(eg. mazda 3 sport (175 HP stock), dodge srt4 turbo (230 HP stock i think), etc.) there are many other cars in the civic price range that come with much higher HP, as a matter of fact i think the civic is the most underpowered car in it's price range.
civics are meant to be affordable, economical cars. HP/perfomance was not supposed to be part of the deal. even the SIR at 160HP stock is quite underpowered for a car that cost $25,000+.
bottom line. modding a civic engine for speed is a waste of money.(eg. turbo kit) your money would be better spent on body kits, rims, lowering springs, custom paint, etc. all show and no go, that's how i like it when i'm cruising in my LXG. LOL

So far, right now..looks it is for me, just keeping it clean and JDM styling..theres only so much you can do with the D17..when i think about it, it just isnt worth it..for the peformance i want..so my car is just gonna pimp.

Honestly seeing the look that a cocky porsche driver gives me after he gets pumped is priceless.
Right on keep um comin. I still think im gonna go performance and I dont think its a waste of money epecially for me. I mean I used to own a sunfire gt lol now that was a waste of money. But yes I will be gettin rimz. just dont know when. gotta get the account back up again I just paid my insurance off for 6 months and that was 1700$ so I might be outta action for a couple months...... UNLESS the credit card starts burning my pocket lol. j/k

if your sticking with the D17 platform that came with our cars... you cant suck anymore juice out of that thing unless you really spend cash or go with Nitrious.... but MANY members i know take thier cars to track (circuit) and build on thier suspension and just have track or SOLO thier cars... speed isnt all about going straight... just like the saying says...

Im try to balance out looks and performance, but so far looks outweighs performance...
I accepted that fact that our civics are nice economy family cars that are great on gas. Im with Telly tho about the suspension mods. I think they are the most bang for the buck mods you can do (and also adds to the look of the car), aside from nitrous....lol.
Nevertheless, I love my slow family sedan
