Rims, Rims, Rims
Hey ppls, got a few quick questions I want some advice on:
A: How to get your parents to feel totally cool with you buying rims for your car
(safety, insurance, no bad braking)
B: What brands do you recommend, I like some from Konig, Enkei, etc.
C: Method to buy, I am thinking ordering from a site such as tiretrends.com or 1010tires.com
D: What tires should I get that are not cheap but are not like way way up there on pricey...
THANKS FOR ALL SUGGESTIONS

if your getting 17" rims get wanli tires they last forever, they are a newer tire on the market so there price is really good for the money, get 205/40r/17. as for your parents tell them that buy getting performance rims you have to put on performance tires which will allow you to get 10 times better traction and handeling, not only does it allow you to stick to the road a whole lot better they look sick lol.
Getting rims eh? hahah....... you should give proparts a visit, they have special on some nice volk/advan replicas rightnow and pretty decent price. Automotive warehouse has some rims on display. As of what brand, it really depends of your style.... i would suggest getting rims from local car store instead of online becuase its always safer and you can return or bltch if there is something wrong. I have Fuzion ZRi tires and they are really good, Falkens, dunlop, yoko, toyo, bridgestone... they are all good. if you are not lowering your car get 215/45/17, its will give you more comfort and less wheel gap.

S'all good, don't let them tell you what to do. Mine tried, and I just up and left, ha ha.
As for tires, I really do not recommend Kumhos. After the first season it seems my 712s ran out of tread a little too quick. I got a set of Wanlis for a friend and they're lasting forever on her car. I believe they're Yoko knockoffs.
And yes, check out proparts for rims, they've got some good stuff for sale now.

1. Your parents will not be cool with it. Technically, rims are a waste of money to be honest. They are a luxury and you shoudl only spend money on them if you can afford it without a problem at all.
If you need to find a good approach on how to approach momma so she can reach into her pocket to write you a cheque for rims for you to look cool in front of high school friends, go buy a bucket of friend chicken and eat it in your trailer...
My 2 cents. If you're buying with your own cash, and just need to assure them of the purchase, that's fine...
In any case.... If you have no clue about rims 'n stuff in the first place.....
- Go 15, 16, or max 17 inch rims... Any bigger, and you'll be paying major bucks for rubber, and when you hit a pothole, you will cry to mommy again.
- larger rims, 17 and up, will probably cost you in gas mileage.....
- Don't get rims purely on looks.... Be careful on wheel weight. You have alot of research to do with regards to unsprung wheel weight, etc... The lighter, the better. Unfortunately, the lighter usually == more expensive.
- Once you go to new rim sizes, you'll look like a 4x4 truck; the wheel gap will look horrible, and once again you will ask mommy for money for springs, or coilovers.
- The ideal thing to do with the parents: tell them about SAFETY (and mention it does look cool anyway)..... Tell them once the stock tires wear out, you will need new rubber anyway, and that you want to have a separate set of winter tires... Opt to have this solution: winter rubber on your stock rims/hub caps, and decent (i.e. not SUPER HIGH PERFORMANCE) tires on a new set of rims.... <-- I'm not recommended you just do burnouts to get rid of the stock rubber..... Would you sit on asphalt and rub your *** up and down the driveway, just to wear out an ugly pair of jeans, just so you can get new ones?
- If you're buying off a site, make sure you know the proper offset for your Civic, and that you get hub rings, etc.... You don't have that safety net versus buying local.
- Know the tricks of the trade when it comes to rims: usually flashy chrome rims are quite ghetto... and a rim looks a size larger when you have a nice fat lip on it.
In my case, I bought winter rubber on black steelies, and using stock 15" alloys as summer rims (still on stock rubber).... In you case, instead of black steelies, summer rims....
(I'm not here to bash, just that when I hear posts asking for advice on how to approach the parents for cash for making a car flashy, it sounds just plain ghetto.
)

MIR, honestly I don't think you should get new rims...
1: Any rims that are bigger (and therefore probably wider) will accentuate the wheel gap...and I know you're not going to lower, right?
2: I like your rims!
