OEM sidemarker install
Well I finally got them, OEM SiR sidemarkers, straight from Honda. I basically have the whole set (lamp unit, socket, bulb, wiring harness w/ grommet), but I'm pretty sure I'll need extra wire to reach the headlight assembly (since I'll be wiring it up there to the turn signals).
Anyway to get to the point, I don't want to install them myself (I don't trust myself enough to cut through my own fenders). Any suggestions on where to go for installation? I'm located in Pickering.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, me and Shifty brought sidemarkers from robear and hopefully it will come soon, we plan to install them by ourselves and testing it on my fenders first... hahah, I can probably help you out after we do ours or give you advice. If you find a shop that does a good job, Let us know

Yes there is concern with rust. I heard you have to coat area which was cut with some sort of rust protectant thing.
I've asked Speedtech before, they said they don't like cutting fenders for sidemarkers which aren't perfectly circle (kind of hard to explain). Basically, they just want the shape of the actual hole to be a circle, not that actual shape of the sidemarker (since it requires more work and specific sizing. I'll give them another try, and see what they say.

Yeah, this is why I hate dealing with shipping from the US. Takes about forever to get here. I just ended up buying the SiR sidemarkers, they're identical to the DC5 and ES3 sidemarkers, just clear. And I know its kinda ricey, but I just painted them amber (came out pretty mint, you can't even tell). I'll try to post pics when they're installed. Good luck guys.

That's hilarious, since I was gonna buy the SiR ones from Honda, couldn't afford them, then went to robear (tornactive at the time I think) and had the clear j-spec ones shipped over.
No rust yet btw, been through 3 winters now. When we cut the hole, we used touchup paint on the cut metal edges as well as around the inside of the hole. Then after the marker was installed, a little silicone on the inside seam.

Actually, the SiR ones came up to $111.81 for me, and thats with everything. If I ordered from Robear it was $52.00 + shipping + customs (but these are the DC5 ones, identical shape however).

Yeah, when I got mine I was only thinking of tiny mods, nothing like the monster my car's become.....so $100+ was too much for me.
But today I dropped 90 bones on about 1lb of plastic at the Honda dealership...bastards!!!

Yeah, right now I'm only sticking to a few little mods, nothing too serious. The only thing in terms of being huge is a SiR rear disc conversion and new struts/shocks LOL. What can I say, I'm a struggling broke-*** student!

Speedtech quoted $78 for labour. But they said they have to take a look at the back of the sidemarker itself before installation -- I'm guessing because of the size of the hole they have to cut.
Any other suggestions?

I'm doing mine tomorrow (Friday). I'm having a hard time finding that sheet metal nibbler tool, but I'm gonna try this place tomorrow (Markham Industrial), hopefully they'll have it there. If not, I'll probably just rent a dremel at Home Depot and just cut piece by piece.
Good luck to ya dude.

Well they're in! I used a Dremel to cut the fender, but I STRONGLY RECOMMEND using this tool
http://www.7thgencivic.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=202710
The Dremel will catch grip on the fender and will kind of jump towards the direction it is spinning, resulting in cuts and scratches where you don't want them to be! I had about 3 mishaps with this, but I touched it up with OEM paint and will buff it out tomorrow (when I get my new tires -- ES100's baby!). The install took about 4-5 hours, since you have to take your time (removing wheels, fender lining, measuring, cutting, wiring, etc).
I'll post pics as soon as I can. Good luck to whoever attempts this!
