Project ERASE
For information purposes only.
I had a conversation with my friend in the Traffic Services department and he has informed me that project ERASE will be in full effect in the next week and will last the entire summer.
For those who are unfamiliar with ERASE, it is an joint forces project aimed to curtail street racing.

So Narc, what can us poor modified kiddies expect to encounter? Will modified rides be pulled over for "spot checks" and inspections and such? WIll hoods be popped, trunks searched for N20, etc etc?
i just hope the police involved in the task force are informed and knowledgeble about what modifications are legal and what aren't legal.
there have been so many occasions where i've been pulled and the officer tries to intimidate me and they just assume that alot of things are illegal...but they aren't....

lame....I don't care if they stop me but it's a pain in the ***.
Are they doing anything about the crotch rockets yet or is this just aimed at the Sport Compact scene?

I know the acronym wouldn't have worked out but it would have been better if it was called ERACE.
People would for sure stop street racing then when they see how clever the police is with thier words.

The project is aimed at curtailing street racing. Its primary objective is to target racing or aggresive driving on or off the roadway (ie parking lots).
Certain areas know to have racing/aggresive driving will be targeted.
And yes, sexy filipino drivers will be targeted. Will, you have nothing to worry about.
As I mentioned before, I spoke to sgt Vertolli of the Peel Traffic Services bureau about this. We did'nt get into the specifics, but this thing is a go for sure. One more thing, he and I went to Police college together and are good friends. He has invited me to ride along with him over the summer and join the project.
I declined his offer.

Hey Narc, did you decline on principle, or because you didn't want to have to bust me down for being UNsexy?
p.s. that's just a funny smelling cigarette I'm smoking, OK?

i have respect in NARC, if i get pull over by him..he will know what is legal mod and what's not.
but some cops do not know anything about cars and they think everything is illegal. and sorry to say but it's true, anyone driving a honda or acura products with visible modification will have a higher chances of getting pull over and harassed in the so called hot spot "woodbridge, scarborough, etc"
i know it's dumb but nothing we can do. also teh stupid dumb f u c k kids that use their parents' car to race with 8 ppl in it doesnt help

1) what is the rule on mufflers? is there a certain decible that it has to be lower than?
2) what is the rule on airbags? i was under the impression that you werent allowed to Sell a car w/o an airbag, but you can remove it as long as you dont sell it

2) There is no ruling in the Highway traffic act that states the removal of airbags is a breach of law. however, should your insurance co find out, they will cancel your insurace immediately. should you, by no fault of your own, get into an accident and suffer any injuries (or for that matter, death) you WILL NOT HAVE COVERAGE. of all the mods I have done and those ive wanted to do, air bag removal is not one of them and will never be.
there, you happy now? ha ha.

For those of you wondering why I declined the offer by Sgt Vertolli, its basicly this....
I dont drink and drive...I arrest those that do.
I dont do drugs...I arrest those that do.
I dont hit my girl....I arrest those that do.
I drive a mod'd Honda Civic.
You dig?
If I can get absolute assurance that we are out there cracking down on street racing and aggresive driving than I would gladly participate with zero tolerance...but if part of the project is givin out bullshit tickets for clear headlights and such..than count me out.
why? cuz a hipocrite I am not. Ive got more important things to do with my badge.

Narc, since we are on the topic, u heard of anyone got the insurance dropped due to mods?any kind of mods (suspension, engine, wheels)? I have been reading so many post on solo forum ppl got their insurance dropped, espically from Statefarm
thanks
thanks
its very subjective and up to the cop to decide when it comes down to alot of things.
lights...just don't get superwhite lights...keeps you out of trouble...buy silverstars and keep your turn signals orange...
lowering...a cop on a bad day would give you a ticket for sport springs...the HTA rule is if u turn ur steering wheel all the way and it rubs then its too low.
exhaust...anything thats louder than stock they will probably give you a ticket...very subjective...no cat = ticket for sure...if your exhaust isn't flush with ur bumper...ticket
tints...from the times i've been pulled over...tints are apparently totally illegal in the front...which isn't true...35% is the legal tint for front windows.
just be ready for the heat this summer...if you can try avoid driving in woodbridge on weekends...and watch your speed on hwy 7...

NARC:
Here are my questions mang!
1) Why do my friends get pulled over for exhaust systems being too loud while every bald headed fat *** on a Harley with straight pipes rides around unhorassed?
2) What gives a police officer the right to assume something is illegal on my ride and if proven wrong in court, are they disciplined?
See basically I've had this argument with my uncle before. He's internal affairs and I'm sure he's seen his share of BS in his day dating back to when he had a foot beat.
My point is this....Any police officer can pull me over as many times as he wants to write me tickets for things he "thinks" are illegal yet if he's proven wrong each time he'll likely continue on his/her marry way busting "Joe Civic" for everything from cleared headlights to overly shiny gear shift *****.
I guess I wouldn't have a problem with this if 1) they busted me for something that was actually illegal and 2) the officer actually knew what he/she was talkin about.
Moral of my story to my future ticket writing policeman, whoever you are...Write me a ticket if you want for whatever you want, but if I can prove you're wrong I think YOU should pay for it, not me....hah.
All these programs to help police and modders get along and then they do this kinda discriminatory BS.
