Dunno if you wanna bother with the EL, as far as I see the 02+ SiR parts are about the same (probably EXACTLY), and someone has already done THAT on here.

That said, I've seen a few front-mashed EL's gettin towed about lately, you may be able to score one from a junker. That's what they get for tryin to outrun me round a curve, bwahahahahaaaaaa*burp*

According to Hondaluver (whose signature makes me hard), the only parts you need to do the swap:

1. calipers
2. discs
3. spindles(knuckel)
4. e-brake cables from a rsx or si
5. dust covers. (picture below)

See how good I treat you?

It's an easy mod for sure if you're not afraid of takin that kind of stuff apart. I helped Tekgnosis do his on his LX. Got the parts from a place in Montreal off a 2002 SiR.

He got more than is needed though. He paid $600 for the full rear control arms, with everything still assembled on them. Makes the job a quick easy install (I know, because I bought them off him). I just dropped the old control arm, and lifted the new one in place. The hardest part was running the e-brake cables. The driver side one is a VERY snug fit.

A pretty cool mod though, the "feel" is great. It is so much easier to read the brakes now. I have an 01 LX (no ABS) and I don't think I'll ever lock up my tires again, and they are very bald.

Won't you also need the brake fluid reservoir for the rear?

When we put his in we bent the guide under the car for the cable a tiny bit to get it in. Doesn't affect anything though so no worries.

perhaps upgrading the master cylinder and rear brake lines is something to consider when doing the swap...

you don't really need to change anything as far as the resevoir, or master cylinder. The only thing you might want to do is get a brake proportioning valve. It adjusts the brake bias. But I don't really think Its necessary. I havn't AutoX with it yet, so maybe once I do that I'll change my mind, but for normal driving its pretty good.

I bought mine off someone else (he took them off when he sold his car), so I don't really know where he got them. Its some honda parts distributor in Montreal or something. All it is is the whole rear control arm from a SiR w/brakes and cables still attached. Then its just a straight bolt in, except the cables. I just snipped the ABS sensor wires. Also, because you have a 01LX (no rear sway bar), if you do it this way you get the rear mounting points for a swaybar on the new SiR parts. definitely a plus!!

Its not a huge difference. It is nice though. The best thing is the feedback from the brakes is better. I can stop really fast, without locking up my tires now. Pretty good considering my almost bald tires. With the drums it was much harder to get the threshold braking right, without locking the tires. ABS is for babies
I haven't had a chance to be really abusive on them yet, so I don't know how much better they will be for track use...yet.

Though, it should be noted.. Even with 4 discs the Civic/EL brake feel is very mushy..... Not very sensitive to the driver, and not much feedback.... (I have stock 4 disc calipers, since I'm driving an EL)

Ah what the hell, go all out, and go for a full 4 piston caliper conversion

i think changing the stainless steel brake lines on the front would give u better result than doing the rear disc conversion. try the SS lines before doing the conversion and u will be surprise

tekgnosis has a spectacular aura abouttekgnosis has a spectacular aura abouttekgnosis has a spectacular aura about
SiRB16: agreed.

the one thing I didn't do was the actual pressure.

You'd also (in the long run) want to get an adjustable brake pressure regulator. that way you can fiddle with how much pressure goes to the rear brakes.

or, you can buy the non-adjustable piece from a 1.7EL. it's $140 or so (CAD).

stainless steel lines are also a good idea, but not neccessary for the short-term.

you should have bugged me on saturday while we were at the meet...I would have talked your ear off about the rear conversion I researched it to death a year ago!

YES~
my friend changed the Honda brake fluid to Motul full synthetic brake fluid and stainless steel brake line and it was night and day.

I really wont bother doing the rear discs conversion cuz the rear dont get to use a lot to stop the car, most of the stopping power came from the front discs.

I don't know how much installation would be. Probably WAY too much. If you have even a little skills, its a pretty easy job. Took me and my friend about 3 hours (with air tools). The hardest part was running the e-brake lines and bleeding the brake fluid. It's really an pretty easy install.
