this morning as I was traveling to work I took an unusual route to work which consists of some fun side streets with hills and crests.....after I past this elemetry school a cop flickered on his cherries and pulled me over. I ask him what was the matter. he told me it was my muffler being too loud and worte me an Improper Muffler Vehical. Here is my setup I gotz stock Catz, 2.25 custom piping....and a maganflow muffler.....the only piece missing is the resonator. here is my question; would putting resonator on decrease peformance? and how about sound wise? Here is the thing alot of people and my friends told me I was at the wrong place in the worng time.....to get such a ticket.

u were at the wrong place and at the wrong time.. that happens to me all the time when i get a ticket..lol..
putting a res doesnt lower performance..lol it just muffles the sound...
big noise != power lol

yeah.....maybe I get back some of my low end torque...because I get some kind of flow restriction from the resonator.

i have a magnaflow exhaust with a magnaflow resonator.. with 2.25 inch custom mid pipe
it's got a deep tone.

never pulled over for the exhaust itself.
i put the resonator on only b/c i didnt like it too loud... and on the plus side, i actually like the way it sounds right now

guess it wsa just bad luck.
apply for a court trial.... hope the judge throws it out or hope for the cop to not show up for a useless ticket.

its just bad luck, if they decide to pull u over, they have 10 million reasons to give u ticket, but no, putting resonator do not decrease performance

magnaflows are not even considered a loud exhaust, mine's pretty quiet compared to other performance exhausts i've heard but i've never had the resonator removed off mine so i don't know how it sounds without it. i'm sure the cop just wanted to F_CK with you. maybe he didn't like your face or your race.

Is it alot louder without the resonator? I have a magnaflow myself and wanted it to be a bit louder, how do u take it off?

well, let's put it this way. after i put on the resonator yesterday....1st thing I noticed my old exhaust spirit is gone. 1st the snappiness gone which i like...it sounds like it is backfiring.......and some heavy duty compression when past 4000RPm.....now gone. 2nd I noticed some low end gain......but mid-range got killed...........top end just like any other Vtec so you know how that feels but hoepfully cop don't pull me over anymore cause of exhaust... one more question to all you people out there. how can i fight off this tickect? if I pay for it will my insurance go up?

Kwinter in this site got the same ticket a week ago... get a res. installed ASAP and go to the precint were the cop werks sand show him the work and the receipt ....

Thanx for the opinion. I am definitely going to fight it. I believe is in the markham road court. I gotz the magna flow resonator on at the moment. I wanna upgrade to a magnaflow titanium exhuast and hopefully get a new set of wheels next week. My choice is either Koing Holes or Motegi Trak Lite. Trak lite cost more cuase its forged. Oh and the way I am gonna fight my tickect in court is : 1. there is no standard of noise in Ontario for exhaust 2. my exhaust was measured subjectively soely by the officer. hoepfully I will get it off.

your plan wont work....they arent going to change the law for you...they should address it and you're right to have that argument, but im just sayin it wont work. you are not suppose to have a muffler that amplifies the sound of your car...it is there to muffle sound.

you best bet is to ask to reduce the penalty, but if you do fight it goodluck...you'd be a hero if you win....im just too skeptical of the system here....

fight that man.. i had thesame ticket with my civic, (magnaflow muffler) and cop didnt show up... actually i got 2 tickets that day.. colour coated light bulbs.. lol... soo i got lucky and didnt pay anything

yeah....i am gonna first book an appointment with the crown. that would take up to 6 months and if that dosen't work out; I will schdedule a court date which is gonna take up to another 4 months. so 10 months in total.
