Short Ram intake help.

hey guys,
i need some help. i'm about to purchase a short ram intake for my dx model. just last week, i went to pacific mall wanting to buy one. it really confused me when one guy said there's no difference between si, ex, dx, lx. that guy was selling it for 70 bucks which sounds pretty reasonable. i went to another store and they strickly told me that there is a difference in si/ex and dx/lx and they were selling it for 80. so after hearing that, i just didn't pick one up at all.

so, question is...
is there a difference between the models? si, dx, lx, ex?
where can i pick up a cheep intake?
please post up pic of ur short ram intake set up. OR
we'll set up a time and place so i can take a look at ur set up?

thanks in advance! i really need the help!

as far as i know there is no difference...when i went to purchase my short ram with my friend (who owns a coupe lx) we got 2 different boxes, one for a lx and the other for an si...but intakes were identical though...

i dont see why a SRI would be different for an SI vs an LX or DX

liro is right

LX, DX, HX, Si. can all use one SRI

BUT

when they say different... they mean COLD AIR INTAKES cause of the LX or Si and Automaic Trans. or Man. trans. cause the way it snakes down... the auto auto tranny gets in the way...

exactly, auto gets in the way and injen makes a full CAI for an auto which does snake around, while aem just has the SRI for an auto.

if you have stick, shouldnt make a difference. i wouldnt recommend another place, pac mall has them and pay cash man, no tax. good price for it there, i was there recently and was gonna buy from there until i bought someone elses injen short ram

anyways man good luck

yah you'll have no problem installing it, really easy. when i had installed my intake on my previous 7th gen civic it was my first time touching an engine and once i started unbolting it everything fell into p[lace.

Ex, LX, DX, SI all have the same engine except for the Vtec, which means that the throttel opening is the exact same, and considering the vtec does not come in the way of anything, a shortram will fit.

the only problem you would have is Auto VS manual.

yeah just pm me if you wanna meet me at speedtech...there really isnt much to show you though.

follow the cold ram instructions from the diy on how to disassemble the oe air box and then its all very straight foward, if you have any problems just hop on the forum, im sure someone here can help you out.

good luck!

my setup

this is my SRI that i had bought from PMALL 2 years ago when i forst bought my car.
it is for the SI and my car is an LX so i don't think there is a difference.
heres a pic

for the blue tubing that surrounds the throttle i custom cut it to fit on a angle like that, also the sensor on the side, i had cut some of the electrical tape that was on it to extend it out a bit. but the only thing i don't like about it is thta the tubing of the intake is 3" so when you put it on it kinda rubs the throttle a bit, doesn't damage the throttle on leaves scratches on the intake. but you can't see it at all unless you take the tubing off.

i actually got my strut bars from top notch, all 3 for 100
as for fitting i have a rubber hose attached to the strut bar so it dampens the knocking when i drive.
i just twistie tied the hose one.
