what octane gas do u use????

1) Just wondering what kind level octane gas you guys put in your 7th gen? I've only filled up my car 2 times so far. First time, I put in 87. The second time, I put 89.

2) What are the benefits of 89 over 87?

3)What octane level should I be using?

any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, Phu.

depnds on how much money i have and the price of gas, but i usually put 89. when the the gas price is like 74 cents/ L or more i usually put 87. for the first 6 months i had my car i only put the highest octane but then i got sick of paying more than what's recommended for our cars. my car doesn't have gusto's engine so why bother . it's all up to you i guess and it doesn't hurt fillin up with the higher octane.

87 is the octane that is recommended for the 1.7L motor. there is no gain in putting higher octane gas into our cars.

gusto uses 94...well...because u know...his motor recommends 91 octane or higher.

Well you MIGHT notice better meilage, the 89 octane burns cleaner, and may not smell as bad as 87. I noticed a slight change when I changed gas as well.

I was told by Honda that if you start using the high octane gas, it's not good to switch back to the low or medium b/c it carbontaes the engine. (BS?) I dunno. I always put in 89 (thats what is reccomended in the user's manual) It's totally up to you. either way if you fill up on 87,89,90 whatever, you'll only pay about 10 dollars difference. MAX

thanks for the reply guys. I think I'll stick with 89 octane. I'm not really worried about gas prices. I owned an acura legend before this, and I spent way more to fill that thing up with just 87 octane.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

well, I guess 87 if it doesn't improve if you put higher octane.

Thanks.
